Day 2 of Queen Maxima of the Netherlands’ Working Visit to Indonesia

Queen Máxima is making a four-day working visit to Indonesia in her capacity as the UN Secretary-General’s Special Advocate for Financial Health. On November 26, Queen Máxima visited a local UN office to participate in a roundtable discussion with development organizations. She then visited the International Finance Corporation, a member of the World Bank Group, to discuss developing loans that contribute to financial health.

Next, Queen Máxima made a field visit outside Jakarta to the Gran Harmoni Cluster Housing project, a residential development providing low-emission homes for people with low and medium incomes. In the afternoon, the Queen visited Deloitte to speak with employers about how they can support the financial health of their employees and clients. For the occasion, the Queen wore a vibrant lime green dress by Natan.

  1. Natan's Nightmare: Ruches, ruches, neckline ruches, tummy ruches, sleeve ruches (- but wait, there is no sleeve there?) this must suffice. And with that much textile overflow, no need to give that dress an own design.

    1. I quite like this dress and font remotely see it as a nightmare. Despite Natan’s foibles, Maxima looks smashing in it, so it’s hard to say it’s not a fundamentally great dress!

    2. So many competing design elements for one dress! The Queen is tall but would be even worse on a short person. MR

    1. MI rather like this dress too. It's a great colour for Queen Maxima, a good length. looks lie it may be silk, which would be a good choice for Indonesia as would the semi open sleeves. It's certainly a bit fussy for my personal taste but overall not bad at all. Continuous improvement with the outfits so far. What might tomorrow bring??

    2. After some hesitations, I find the dress quite interesting and adequate for Maxima. As already said : a bit fussy for my personal taste but overall not bad at all.

Wow, Maxima's face swelling following her en route cosmetic treatments/surgery has suddenly disappeared, her ankles are still a bit swollen but, surprise...those wicked high heels are back again!
She looks badly in need of a brush ( is this refrain right?!), her dress isn't freshly steamed (but some people call this just "ruching"!) and the sleevees are looking whimsical.
And why is she towering over the other people in all this set of pics?? Grrr...
    What am I missing out?

    2. Dear P., yes I think you are missing out - because ruches go on being ruches, independently if freshly steamed or not, because they are created by sewing. Her ankles are as they have always been, high heels give an illusion of longer and slimmer, as we all know anyway. Face swelling/cosmetic procedures: not sure if it is urgently relevant in the fashion department.

Of course, all of my ironical comment was misinterpreted but it doesn't surprise me in the least.
I was clearly making fun of the bullies from Nastiland always making unpleasant, nonsensical and boring comments on Maxima's .
      physical aspect.
I was mimicking them and their sicking refrains.
      It's also called sarcasm.
And , by the way, I like this Queen a lot and will always do.
      Got It?
Use your brains, please, or otherwise better keep silent.

    6. Maxima is wearing high heels so no wonder she is much taller than people of Indonesia. But of course she should have worn in that case lower heels.
Sometimes people do what they should not.

She does not have to wear low heels because the people of Indonesia are shorter. If they come to visit us in Europe we don't ask them to dress like us either. To each his own. Since the time Queen Maxima is representing the UN she is dressing and wearing the same she is wearing in The Netherlands. If that is not OK for the UN, I think they would have asked her to change her clothes and shoes during these missions. Besides even if she is wearing flats, she will still be taller than the majority of the people there. Perhaps tomorrow she will wear flats with a pair of pants, who knows.

    9. P. the original: When I first read your comment several hours ago, I had no idea what you were talking about. I chose not to comment on it because I thought someone might be using your name to make nasty comments. I simply didn't understand what you were talking about. To see that you meant your remarks to be sarcastic is also puzzling. Maybe if you had waited to see if the comments got cruel before deciding to bite back? It seems fairly obvious that we didn't know what you were trying to do. Telling us to use our brains is ridiculous. Let's be honest, when you have to explain your attempt at humor, it isn't funny. I agree with you that the things said about Maxima are cruel at times and if it was up to me they wouldn't be posted, but your way of making the point fell flat. I'm glad to see your account wasn't hacked.

Yesterday , I made a number of comments on other posts relating to Maxima's working visit to Indonesia.
On those posts you can see nasty remarks on Maxima from the usual people bullying her all the time.
I clearly explained why I was sick of all that.
If you had read through those posts, you would have understood why I ended up submitting my comment here at 14:10 yesterday.
Being asked if I had missed out my brain is the truly ridiculous thing.
My thoughts are well organized and always benevolent to Maxima.
I dislike those bullies' toxic ,sickening and really brainless remarks on this Queen's physical aspect.
Always the same OLD, idle, pointless refrains seemingly produced by OLD minds.
As to the current post, the Queen looks lovely and professional imv.
      She has remarkable work ethics.
Gotta leave now, I am a flight attendant myself.
I am fully aware of how gruelling long- haul flights can be and I would have expected some respect for Maxima and all working women.
      Cheers.

I am not against Queen Maxima and the way she dresses.
Why must I stop to defend her choices, which cannot be said of you I think or maybe you completely misunderstood what I was trying to say.

  4. I sometimes wander what Maxima's budget for clothes is. Sometimes a rewear bit most of the time lots of couture suits and dresses. I like this dress btway the colour as well as the model

  8. A couple of real Natan/Maxima haters on here today. I think the dress is interesting and suits her very well. I like the sleeve and the ruching and to me it's very flattering on her. Particularly the picture where she's walking - super, SUPER model vibes there! Dry shampoo could be Maxima's new best friend but all in all I think this looks is beautiful on her.

    2. Maybe you could make an effort to talk about fashion, instead of persons here? Personally, I don't hate Natan or Máxima, I despise evidently bad design and communicate this opinion of mine. Would be nice if I could do that without being called a hater. Thank you.

  10. Not bad overall, a colour she can wear, looks like silk so nice in the hot humid climate. Not the best but just fine. I just find Natan designs a bit quirky and not to my taste however she seems to like all this fabric.

  11. In the Netherlands, we call this her "Zeemanjurk" (Zeeman dress), which is a store with affordable clothing for the masses. Well, slap a Natan label on it, but it's still a inconsistent design and not well-made...

  13. Good on the Queen for wearing high heels! She is lovely and tall, if she wants to wear them good on her. I would have loved to be tall! She wears this ensemble really well, considering the considerable ruchs, it would be a difficult outfit to wear, but she makes it effortless. The color suits her. This has been a marvelous tour so far, well done to her.

This outfit - both design and color do not excite me. I've seen Maxima in so many more flattering outfits. If it is really hot , leave off the pantyhose and wear more comfortable but stylish shoes.

    1. Maybe there is a reason why she is wearing pantyhose. It can be special pantyhose which support her legs. On a Dutch website I read that there was a reason why she was wearing a cullotte instead of long pants. It was because in the airplane she wears compression stockings and it was much easier to put them on or take them off, when wearing a cullotte.

  18. Where to begin;
First photo, messy hair falling into the wrinkled looking mess of a dress, followed by the waist area, hitch-up aka ruching of material, with more wrinkles, then stove-pipe legs and sky high heels. The shoes in the photos have always look cheap/tacky.

Maxima is a tall woman; Why the need to further 'stand out' by wearing sky high heeled shoes? Is there a need to be the center of attention? She always seems to wear the largest hats, tallest shoes, strange outlandish bright colours. She already stands out for the royal who has the messiest (is that a word) hair. On rare occasions, it's beautiful with extensions or done for a tiara moment. However, 95% of the time, it appears un-brushed or combed. Layers of hair that should have been left to grow out over the last number of years (hint, it improves thickness when NOT layered), stick out like a sore thumb. Common sense would dictate to wear a low pony tail, or 'messy' bun. Even I with my own thin hair, I make myself more presentable, than a woman married to a king, and I do not have the in house salon, or hairdresser on hand to make the hair look presentable.
As is always, this is my personal opinion on this blog, about fashion, hair, makeup, accessories. Those who wish to bully, or try to shame me for my opinion, need not apply.

With that said (above opinions), keep on expressing your fashion opinions, it's what makes this blog interesting. Not one of us has the same perspectives, opinions, or ideas.
