Alexander McQueen always makes lovely suits. however, the cropped pants with heels look does not work very well.
ReplyDeleteAgree !!
DeleteI agree…a more substantial shoe like a loafer would ground the suit. (V.M.)
DeleteAgree. The trousers look bad. The jacket is ok.
DeleteAgree the trousers are all wrong. The shoes are better than the strange things worn by the model but no style could make up for the silly length. D of E looks good
DeletePrincess Charlene is looking very beautiful.

Ok Charlene, when will we get to see your hair down? Please??
ReplyDeleteMaybe one day soon but meanwhile I was just thinking how beautiful it looks in these photos. I love that it’s longer and more softly styled these days, and appreciate it tucked up off her face.
Deleteshe has thin hair, it happens for some ladies as we get older. so either hold it up or cut it. last time she had it down with out extra piece it looked like this

I don’t know why, but I’m not feeling this outfit on princess Charlene.

Not feeling the outfit? Me neither from this distance. And just as well, as being felt by strangers tends to be uncomfortable.
DeleteAnonymous 17:44 very cheeky!

This is a beautiful tailored pantsuit, I love the black shirt underneath her jacket. Not sure if the pants are a little shorter or the heels are too high? Regardless she looks beautiful. I love her hair styled in this way.
ReplyDeleteShe looks good like always, but that pants make her look neglected. Her legs look so thin. So a big no for me. Also her hair looks elegant but too strict.
ReplyDeleteLook neglected ?? Oh I wouldn't have thought that. I think cropped trousers were designed to fit with high heels, but not too high. She seems to have gone in the direction of a very classic style, particularly regarding hair. Yes I would prefer something less strict.
DeleteAgree with Mary T.

Beautiful pant suit but the trousers are too short.
ReplyDeleteThis is a beautiful McQueen suit. The jacket has a unique cut that creates a flattering silhouette. I love the details. As expected, there are comments that the trousers are too short. They are being worn exactly as they are designed to be worn. This length works well with heels and flats. I can't help but notice that Charlene's appearance emphasizes Sophie's less polished style.
ReplyDeleteThe comment about the trousers was mine. Maybe they are designed to be worn like that, but I still don't like them. Every garment is designed to be worn like it is, but it does not mean I have to like it.
DeleteNow that I see Duchess Sophie was there too, she is underdressed like often lately. Nothing she is wearing here is matching the white cotton pants worn with the espadrilles and the blouse with puffed sleeves, what a combination. The duke himself is also dressed very strange : a classic blazer on shapeless pants and black trainers which are not looking up-to-date.
Superbe tailleur pantalon aux couleurs d automne
ReplyDeleteFroufrou
The pants-suit on the model shows that the pants were cut short, to be worn with high over-the-ankle boots. Even so, the length still looks a bit odd. The jacket is lovely, but I doubt that these pants can ever be styled to look good. Lyra
ReplyDeleteI agree the pants throw the proportions off
DeleteElégant ce tailleur-pantalon qui mériterait d'être un peu plus long pour équilibrer son look !
ReplyDeleteAlexander McQueen has used a beautiful fabric but I think both jacket and trousers don’t work for the model or Charlene. I think it is poorly cut and poorly tailored. As I see it, the top is cut too high and the button strangely placed, so that it doesn’t fit a woman’s shape well. The bottom has too much fabric around waist/pelvis and not enough in the legs. At least for these two women. I’m surprised by this anomaly in the McQueen catalogue of beautifully tailored suits.
ReplyDeleteYou explained it well, the suit does not fit a woman’s shape
DeleteYou've put the right words to why I wasn't feeling this outfit on the princess. I couldn't quite put my finger on why it didn't work for me since the fabric is one that I love.

Dearest Sophie has chosen small flower pattern + ruffles + puff sleeve. This might be mightily too much, bordering on slightly ridiculous (for me), because this blouse does not make sense in any serious way. - Charlene's jacket and top are nice, the trousers - I don't get why a normal length is gone overboard everywhere.
ReplyDeleteAMcQ has a flare for great tailoring. I would have loved this look if the trouser had been longer and wider. Princess Charlene has the height to pull off a wider leg.
ReplyDeleteHer hair and make up are lovely.
DDoE we’re in Monaco for a DoE event,if they knew they were visiting the Princely couple, maybe a more business ensemble might have been a better choice.
Lowri.
Edward! What shoes are you wearing?!
ReplyDeleteYes I noticed that too, unusual for him
DeleteOn another site they say he is wearing black training shoes.
DeleteA comment regarding the shoes on the model. I think they look like prison bars, but want to know, do others like them?
ReplyDeleteThey are a "younger" style. I know young ladies that would love them. After a certain age, I think they look a little silly. I think these cropped trousers look best with a simple pump. I find the model's shoes too heavy for the suit. Shoes can alter the look of an outfit a lot. Charlene looks more sophisticated, while the model gives a more youthful vibe.
DeleteGreat supporters of the Red Cross. Prince Albert well dressed. Princess Charlene looks lovely, despite the short pants trend that I really dislike and concur with the comments about the designer's cut of the suit. But her colors combo is perfect. She is always poised and professional. Edward is dressed casually. Sophie obviously does not understand how dress for events.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad that Charlene has let her hair grow out (and is a blonde again). My first reaction to Sophie is that she and Edward may be too casually dressed, even for this informal visit.
ReplyDeleteSomeone asked about thoughts on the shoes? They hurt my eyes. Ugh.
ReplyDeleteGood looking suit, just wish the pants was a bit longer.
