Mary is simple elegance in dazzling perfection, from her slim updo down to the white tips of her shoes. She is really the Queen of Composition when it comes to choosing all the right elements that make up a harmonious outfit. - Frederik ...I always have to laugh when I see him in his too tight jackets, as if wanting to show off his pectoral muscle mass ... the opposite of elegant. Just compare his jacket front to that of the other gentlemen.

    1. If you got it flaunt it, and I think he looks dashingly elegant and why would he want to conceal his nice physique that he probably worked very hard for!!!

It's postural. It's because he likes to stand with his shoulders pulled back. The custom-made jacket probably fitted fine when he was being measured, if he was standing in a relaxed natural pose.
Since posture is a habit, a jacket with a higher stance would probably suit him better. Lyra

21.24, I find Fredrik very elegant. I think his suit choices are in keeping with Danish style, as opposed your muscle ideas.

I agree 100%! She’s perfection; harmonious look without the need of of the garment or accessory to call attention to herself. A sublime appearance by QM! MR

@Anon 07:16, I don't have "muscle ideas", I simply describe my perception - as you do with yours. This kind of posture is a well known evolutionary male trait in humans and animals alike: males wanting to seem bigger and therefore in a way better/more desirable. If you ever watched King Frederik in his glamorous and fabulous, but very tightly buttoned up uniform, e.g. here: https://www.newmyroyals.com/2025/01/king-frederik-and-queen-mary-host-2025.html - you will notice that it does not allow the same kind of posture.

Frederick’s jacket button deserves a Facebook page of its own. Must be sown with a special thread so it doesn’t pop at the inopportune time. No, he doesn’t actually have much to flaunt. Just look at pictures of him at the beach. But he enjoys pretending it.

Mary looks wonderful as always. She has an innate charming sense of style, it cannot come from any outside adviser. Not to say she doesn’t need help, and she does get it, however it is impressive how much she shines through her outfits. The clothes never wear her, she wears them (and with great panache).

Well none. She’s wearing a jacket outside over a white suit with a high collar. A stunning white top is revealed with the jacket off. The nuns where you live must be superb glamour gals if their outfits are like this.

I'm not quite sure why but, I'm really not liking this long dark coat on the Queen. It seems to be wearing her more than she is wearing it. I think a shorter jacket/coat would have looked better.

I think practicality comes into play. You’re standing in a summer suit out the front of your house for a while on a cool October evening greeting people as they arrive. You choose the warmer therefore longer jacket of course!

I think a short coat would have been enough to keep her warm, yes. But this coat is very sleek and elegant (like her whole appearance) , more than a weather-conditioned addition. IMHO.

After seeing the last photo, I more than ever want to see the full white/cream outfit. The top part alone - and which is all that we can see at the moment - looks great! The long blue coat is also excellent, but I'm undecided whether I like it worn together with the cream outfit, with the trouser legs showing at the bottom. Something seems odd, probably because the lengths are so close.

Hi deadeggs, perhaps you are referring to the general content of this blog when you say that Helen presents the fashion of first ladies to us. However, please note that this post does not feature any first ladies, but rather the highest-ranking political leaders from the countries participating in the meeting.

Mary's outfit is gorgeous. The black jacket is very striking, and the white ensemble is a little different but still a stylish choice for a business dinner. A sleek hairstyle suits this style perfectly. -Siri

What a gorgeous outfit. The cream ensemble is so very flattering on QM,especially with her coloring. I like the added bonus of what looks like a lightweight evening coat. Her hair is stunning! I wish she’d gone with same color shoe. I personally like the flow of a look. If as in this instance there’s another color your eyes are drawn to that. But that’s just personal choice.
I noticed at the dinner table QM is the rose between two thorns.

Absolutely fabulous white outfit. Mary is so trim and fit and can wear such outfits as the designer intended, no doubt for much younger models.

The long coat and the trousers and top don't go well together. A short jacket and a thinner belt would be much nicer. The two colors of the shoes isn't a good choice either. I think I 'd preferred black shoes.

@sleeveless is not good for older women: in cases when the arms are not so nice any more, I agree. But Mary has fabulous arms for the time being, so as long as she has them, where is the problem?

    2. Anonymous2/10/25 20:31

I would say let us let women enjoy their own bodies all their lives! If an older person - which Mary hardly qualifies as! - enjoys sleeveless, then they should absolutely go for it. Actually I find this idea of no sleeveless for older women to be ageist!

  21. I´m not too fond of Mary´s outfit. The white top is fine in itself, but with the wide white trousers I get martial arts vibes. The black coat looks a bit harsh with it and it is loo long. Proportions are off. I understand the choice of shoe picking up the black-and-white colour scheme here, but they distract more than pull it all together.
I´m not a fan of Kallas, but I do like her suit here, and the blush pink turtleneck is nice.

I agree wrt Mary’s coat — imo it creates a very weird, distorted effect, as though Mary’s legs had suddenly grown at least twelve inches longer, or maybe she was on stilts? Joking aside, while frankly I find the look a bit spooky, it’s an amazing feat of tailoring. — Jane
