Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit met with Dr Younis al-Khatib, President of the Palestinian Red Crescent, at Skaugum Estate. He heads a humanitarian organization that plays a central role in the emergency relief efforts in Gaza. Dr al-Khatib is in Norway to meet with Norwegian authorities and the Norwegian Red Cross.
The Palestinian Red Crescent currently operates two field hospitals and two permanent hospitals that are able to receive patients. In addition, the organization runs numerous health clinics across the Gaza Strip. Before arriving in Norway, Dr al-Khatib and his delegation visited Sweden and Denmark.
A cosy sitting place. I wonder why the table is so laden with books. Were they referring to them, or is it their styling idea to pack table with books? I’m not a fan of food and coffee cups on top of precious books, hence my wondering!
ReplyDeleteC'est tout simplement le style habituel et "à la mode" chez tous les gens aisés, on en voit tout le temps dans les magazines de déco et dans tous les intérieurs de gens célèbres (acteurs, personnalités politiques, journalistes, etc.), ils ont tous plusieurs piles de beaux et très gros livres sur leurs tables de salons (je mets tout au pluriel car ils ont plusieurs tables et plusieurs salons), en général des livres d'art qui coûtent très chers (peinture, photo, sculpture, mode, etc.), c'est un peu ostentatoire à mon avis.
DeleteEt comme ils n'ont pas de problème d'argent ça leur est égal de renverser du thé sur un beau livre, ils le remplaceront !
J'aime bien les bibliothèques et les canapés blancs, mais le tissu à frous-frous autour de la table n'est pas très beau, on dirait un dessus-de-lit. Il me semble qu'une table basse en bois est plus simple et plus belle. Mais c'est aussi la mode chez certains (et depuis longtemps) d'ajouter des tissus sur des meubles. Paloma.
Agree with 06.58 It does feel too modern and trendy for a traditional palace setting. Queen Elizabeth’s décor, for instance, was always very classic and timeless, rich woods, traditional upholstery, family portraits, perhaps some historical books, but nothing like those oversized “coffee-table” art books stacked for display.
DeleteThe royal aesthetic leans more toward heritage and continuity, not fashion or design trends. A setup like this might suit a modern celebrity mansion or a designer home, but not a royal palace steeped in history.
The jacket, top and pants work in well together, the fit is good.
