- Dorothe -

Ooh. Harry looking scruffy. Meghan looks ok, although I think she would have looked better with the two top buttons done up - the model looks excellent with the buttons closed to the top and it gives a more beautiful top shape. Hope they’re happy because sheesh what a lot of controversy they’ve caused and also live with.

Beau couple !

The Duchess could have opened that last button over the belt too, the belt could have held up the dress anyway. A bit cheap to wear it like this.

Lastly she did not steal the King from his throne because the man threatened to kill himself if she did not marry him. Leave Wallis Simpson out of this!

Carolina Herrera is busy with the American ladies at the moment.
She did the dress for Melania Trump at the state dinner in London this week.

    2. Hello Ava Pittman.
Re: the yellow gown worn by Malania Trump for the recent state dinner in Windsor Palace.
Yes there was very little mention of the gown being from the New York fashion house of Carolina Herrera.
I liked the gown and found it living up to the high standards of Carolina Herrera’s work.
However, I thought it was a very bad choice for the occasion.
A simple complementing bolero style top or something like that would have given it a final touch of elegance and suitable for a Royal Gala Dinner in an historical castle.
With the bare shoulders it gave me the impression of being a gown for a Hollywood or red carpet event.
But it’s history now so let's move on.

    3. Anonymous23/9/25 02:15

Nothing wrong with bare shoulders at a State dinner. Queen Letizia did the same.

Good observation. They both have a navy Nina Ricci with a similar halter top. Quite similar aesthetic Clean lines, and less is more in both cases.

    2. Anonymous22/9/25 00:53

If Letizia were wearing something like this, it would be much more polished and fit better. Meghan has tended to wear outfits with a lot of extra fabric and unnecessary belting.

      Delete
    3. Anonymous22/9/25 01:57

It makes no difference. It comes down to a matter of your opinion of Meghan. If you don't like her, you think the partially unbuttoned placket is a problem. Silly to think that buttons must be completely buttoned if they are on a garment.

      Delete
    4. Anonymous22/9/25 09:18

@Anon 21:35: The difference ist vulgar style (open down to even further than the breasts, one *has* to look there) versus elegant style letting the dress work what it is designed for.

      Delete
    5. Anonymous22/9/25 10:10

1:57 that’s not true. Not thinking about the who is wearing it, but how the dress was designed. For the halter neck effect, it works best with the buttons up. Once they are down it’s no longer a halter neck as the shoulders sit differently.

      Delete
    6. Anonymous22/9/25 21:48

Anon 10:10 You are mistaken about the definition of a halter neck. It is a halter neck when the garment connects behind the neck and the shoulders are uncovered. It makes no difference if the front is open or closed, solid fabric or a v- or scoop neck. I will be happy to link a few sites that have the definition if you would like.

    7. Anonymous23/9/25 14:35

21:48 why so aggressive? This isn’t a competition. The other commenter @10:10 wrote “it works best” which is her opinion (and mine too!) and wasn’t seeking a “correct” definition.

A slightly shorter, shoulder-length hairstyle would suit Meghan better, as it would many others. The current model is ok, but a little shorter would probably be wow. -Siri

I agree with you that the dress suits her well. I prefer it buttoned down the way she has it as opposed to the model.
I do like the length of her hair though and think it suits the dress as it provides a form of cover for her bare back in a different setting.

The only thing I would have changed is her heels, I prefer what the model wore, but I understand she does it for height.

@Anon13:37, "time to move on": If you find it appropriate to educate everyone about moving on, then don't forget to include Meghan itself, who "tries to make a good life" by excluding her father completely from it and robbing her young children the family they could enjoy: grandparents, cousins, uncles, aunts etc. She is trying to make a good life for exactly one person: Meghan Markle.
