On Monday, September 22, Queen Máxima is visiting Washington as the United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Advocate for Inclusive Finance for Development (UNSGSA). Princess Amalia is accompanying Queen Máxima throughout the visit to observe her work with the United Nations. From Tuesday, September 23 to Thursday, September 25, they will be in New York for the 80th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
In Washington, Queen Máxima met with the Board of Directors of the Inter-American Development Bank to discuss opportunities and challenges for advancing financial health in Latin America and the Caribbean. She also held talks with the heads of the International Finance Corporation, CGAP, and with her permanent advisory group, the Reference Group. In addition, as honorary chair of the G20 Global Partnership for Financial Inclusion (GPFI), Queen Máxima attended a meeting with the United States G20 Sherpa on financial health.

Lovely, well-fitted suits on both ladies. I like the way they combine suits with simple white tops - keeps the look much cleaner than busy florals.
ReplyDeleteMaxima - very nice professional costume (much better than that ridiculous lime dress for the biology lab visit last time), but her hair is messy again.
ReplyDeleteAmalia - that costume is at least a size bigger than she needs.
Stephanie
Amalia definitely the best dressed , with her red shoes under a good suit, and beautifully done hair. Maxima’s suit is not a good colour for her: too light.
ReplyDeleteI agree with the Amalia's red shoes, but I kindly disagree with Maxima's suit. I think it suits her perfectly and turqoise is the only color that suits everyone.
DeleteCheck back across the photos 20:45 - the blue colour is different in every single photo. It’s the light and lens playing so it’s impossible to say it’s the wrong blue for her … when she appears to be dressed in 5 different shades of blue!!
DeleteFor both of them the suit is too oversized, compared with the model. IMV, hair is ok, according to Maxima's standards & current trends.
DeleteVery smart
ReplyDeleteI love the color of Queen Maxima's suit.
ReplyDeleteBoth dressed in nice business suits. Great to see them together
ReplyDeleteMaxima looks good in this suit, and I love the turquoise colour.
ReplyDeleteNice to see CP Amalia slowly being exposed to these international events that may possibly have an impact when she is queen one day.

Both pantsuits look good, well fitted and style wise, perfect for both of them. I particularly like the blue color, very enhancing.
ReplyDeleteAgreed! Great looks for both royal ladies and I’ve always loved this color on the Queen.
DeleteBoth beautifully dressed! Maxima's hair is for me not a topic any more, I respect her for *not* wearing extensions and *not* wasting precious time for styling - except big occasions - and simply letting her hair be as it is, that's all. Calling it "messy" lacks respect - and the repetitions are tiring -, it is not messy, it is just not manipulated in any way. The suits are perfect on both of them and Amalia's earrings are spectacular.
ReplyDelete👏👏👏👏👏
DeleteCommenting on Maxima's hair has become the thing to talk about when one can't of anything else to say about her clothes, and yes, it lacks respect.
Hear-hear!!
DeleteT
Agree with anon at 23:03, well stated!
DeleteAs I have systematically noted every time Q.Maxima is featured on a blogpost, her hair turns into the
Delete"escamotage" to skip over fashion considerations.
Why?
Very likely because who is obsessed with her hair (as is the case with other royal ladies) lacks any fashion knowledge whatsoever and , first and foremost, respect for the royals portrayed.
I think that fashion knowledge primarily stems from first hand experience.
If someone has no sense of style, colour and most probably has never been capable of getting well groomed herself, I wonder what kind of competences she can invest on critiquing other women?!
Sometimes Maxima's ensembles are no hits at all but in other cases she shows up well put together and this is the case.
Both mother and daughter look well dressed , both suits fit well, each lady's personality shines through and Amalia is growing more and more into a confident young woman..
I truly like this turquoise shade on Maxima.
She lights up the surroundings even more than usual and what a beautiful contrast her nail polish makes with her outfit!
I like the way she has toned down her jewellery, too.
Beautiful red pumps on P.Amalia
Well done.
23:03 hurrah! Totally agree. I don’t understand where the commenters’ expectation that royal women should be perfect comes from. The fairy tales they read as kids? A terrible expectation on any human being, and completely unrealistic too. I find it refreshing to see normal hair but often see it criticised (eg Sophie in Japan) by commenters here. So, thank you for your well written comment on the subject!
DeleteYou are assuming quite a lot, P, and the way you phrase your opinions and putting down others comes off as rude. And really? Just because someone does not share your (so called) sense of style and color does not mean they aren’t quite capable of being well groomed. You wonder about the ‘competences’ one can invest on by criticizing others yet you do that to anyone who disagrees with you.
DeleteBoth Maxima and Amalia look very nice and professional. You can see the pride Maxima has in her daughter!
@ P the original, I don’t think it’s fair to assume that people who comment on hair lack “any fashion knowledge whatsoever”. We cannot know the credentials of other commenters, and shouldn’t assume the worst.
DeleteI agree fully with 11.45 !!!!
DeleteI am not assuming, I am quite sure by now.
DeleteOne does not have to pass my test, of course.
I don't care what others say about me, 'cause I am just satisfied with my own fashion picks and hair styles.
I am here to discuss fashion choices from royal women, not to bring them down using their hair as a pretext to skip comments on the pieces they wear.
Who addressed me has never seen me in person nor would I ever want to meet with people so systematically obsessed with others' hair or footwear.
Yes I am pretty sure that hair , as much as being a matter of discussion on a fashion blog, is getting more and more a tone deaf list of boring and clueless repetitions when it comes to some targeted royal ladies.
Maxima likes her hair this way and she can do whatever she thinks is fine with it.
Her hair, her choices.
No need to always hit the same tiring notes.
Then, I'd like to know why I am the only one addressed here, given that there are other commenters sharing my views.
I gladly share my comments with non- hair/ footwear biased people.
I surely accept different standpoints on fashion choices and styles, provided that there is a real and substantial fashion knowledge behind them.
As far as I can see, it seldom happens.
I have noted that few commenters really have "crediantials" and give well informed opinions on fashion, while others clearly show a lack thereof and resort to the usual hair / footwear criticism throughout this blog.
This is being fair and realistic imv.

@ P. the original. Thank you for your extensive contribution. I can agree on most of what you are explaining and particularly about "Maxima likes her hair this way and she can do whatever she thinks is fine with it. Her hair, her choices." I have tried on several occasions to express similar views.
DeleteI surely also agree about : "only few commentaters really have "credentials" and give well informed opinions on fashion."
14:29 - well summarised. I do not understand why she gets rude and mean. P, be nice. Let people have other opinions without telling them you’re right and they’re wrong. Often you write really positive comments and I love reading your positive comments.
DeleteMarvelous royals without the constant scandal of the English royals and extraordinary humanitarian work in economic inclusion.
ReplyDeleteQueen Maxima could have made more of an effort when representing her country, after all she is the Queen!
ReplyDeleteMaxima isn't representing the Netherlands as a queen. This is her job as as the United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Advocate for Inclusive Finance for Development (UNSGSA).
Delete@ Fitzhugh
DeleteMaxima went there in a different capacity and was professionally dressed for the occasion.
She is no way performing strictly royal representative roles as the Queen of the Netherlands.
Being in attendance as an
"observer" will surely have an impact on Amalia's overall training as the CP of her country.
She makes a huge effort and the country is very proud of her.
DeleteI like Amalia’s red shoes with the black suit.
ReplyDelete-Royal Watcher
Max with the messy hair again. At least she's not in the tried and failed lime green with fringes and an over-the-top hat like the other day.
ReplyDeleteI loved her green outfit and loved the hat. Not a fail - just not to your preferences.
DeleteThis is part of educating a future queen!
DeleteAh maybe Amelia has interest in this role. What better way to learn than being present and not rely on theory and books. They are both dressed very nice for this business meeting.
DeleteJolis tailleurs portés avec un haut blanc ; Maxima a eu le bon goût de rajouter un long collier genre sautoir qui apporte un peu de peps à son look !
ReplyDeleteI think that this set of pics emphasizes the strong bond between a mother and her daughter while shaping her own future role as the Queen of the Netherlands.
ReplyDeleteP.Amalia can rely on her brilliant mum's experience and guidance, mum couldn't look more proud and thrilled to be in her daughter's company.
There's complicity between the two of them.
It is a pleasure to see how each of them complements the other: Maxima's bubbly personality balances out Amalia's sweetly shy character.
The Crown Princess couldn't have found a better mentor (of course, I am sure that Amalia is well advised by her dad, the King, too).
Lovely comment P the original.
DeleteThank you, @ Anonymous 14:31
Delete* prouder
ReplyDeleteAmalia suit looks a little big on her. I think she could have gone with a size down.
ReplyDeleteI can’t say I like the color of Maxima suit, but I do like the cut. It works well.
Lowri.
It warms my heart when I see these photos.
DeleteIt’s like watching a mother bird teaching its baby how to fly.
Princess Amilia looks smart, confident, intelligent and anxious to learn the job.
I hope we see more of them working together.
Queen Beatrix must sleep well at night knowing that the Kingdom of the Netherlands is in good hands.
@ 20:51
ReplyDeleteIt Is fairly obvious that we have opposite views as to what meanness and rudeness are.
You want to see them in me but what you say is nowhere near to my intentions.
That only fits your biased narrative.
Another off the rails comment, untrue and meant to manipulate my words.
I do accept different opinions on the royals' FASHION choices but not the tiring lithanies about the same matters, e.g. hair and footwear amongst others, just to skip well informed fashion argumentations.
This would mean keeping in with the purpose of this blog.
@ Anonymous 20:43
ReplyDeleteThank you.
You know, I viewed a video related to this event and Maxima was simply dazzling, her hair was clean and nicely styled.
Her gestures and demeanor to all people attending was exquisite and engaging.
Amalia looked eager to learn from her brilliant mother and so beautiful, too.
I think that when someone really has fashion expertise , it shows in her/ his comments and she/ he does not need to manipulate other readers' words and intentions.
This tells a lot about them, much more than about royal fashion they are supposed to comment on.
Business like for both, I say yes.
