On September 12, 2025, Queen Mary of Denmark attended the 25th anniversary celebration of the National Grief Center (Det Nationale Sorgcenter) at Amagerbrogade in Copenhagen. The Queen is Patron of the Danish National Center for Grief. During the celebration, the Queen delivered a speech. For 25 years, Children, Youth & Grief (Børn, Unge & Sorg) has worked to ensure that grief does not devastate the lives of children and young people.
Children, Youth & Grief is part of the National Grief Center, a center of knowledge, expertise, and treatment for grief. The center offers, among other things, free psychological counseling to the bereaved and their relatives.
On this occasion, the Queen also had the opportunity to meet 18-year-old Ida, 15-year-old Sylvester, and their father, Ulrik, for a conversation about the support they received from Children, Youth & Grief after the death of their mother. The conversation took place in the 'Heart Room' by the Memorial Tree, where visitors can remember loved ones and leave a written message for someone who is seriously ill or has passed away.
Mary always looks at least good (when not great) in what ever she wears. In this case, I think narrower trousers would have looked better with this style of looser blazer with the deeper V of the neckline. But as I said, she still looks good.

DeleteIMV the look of a ladies' suit is a global issue. The width of trousers is part of the global design and should be respected as such. The 3 ladies' trousers have wide legs, or even extra wide.

DeleteJust because it is a 'new look' it doesn't mean that we have to get accustomed to it. Even more importantly, these new looks, and this wide-pant one in particular, doesn't mean everyone looks good in them, nor wants to wear them. We've seen numerous royals wearing them on these pages over the past 12 months, and the reader comments have reflected that they are a hit or a miss on the royals wearing them. To each their own choice and opinion.

@Anon 9:13: With "get accustomed to it" I mean: we were accustomed to the tight trousers as well, nobody really suggested that XY should wear wide legged trousers - because nobody wore wide legged trousers at that time, it would have been kind of ridiculous and old fashioned. And besides this, I really think we ourselves just get accustomed to certain looks (and the changed proportions they bring with them) as time goes by. Personally, I like medium wide on quite everybody - but well, it is the wide ones that are a la mode.
DeleteA further small detail to wide pants: Just read somewhere that this winter, women get pockets. Not small lookalikes or tiny pockets, real emancipated pockets on pants and skirts too, so the models walked the catwalk with their hands in their huge pockets :-). This means pants are going to be not only flared out but wide everywhere. The only aspect I don't like about it (and about the whole fashion circus) is the environmental one ...
DeleteNo need to worry. The wide pants like worn the last 2 years are slowly disappearing. They still exist during the coming Autumn-Winter season but other type of pants are trendy and will also be worn next season. I do not know all the names given to these different types of pants but I know there are a lot of new styles. I think the best is to find a style that looks good on the person who is wearing it. It is not because my friend is looking good in very wide pants, I will look good too in the same style. If I'll buy a new style of pants I will certainly not spend a lot of money because it is quite possible that by the Winter of 2026-2027 very wide pants are completely out of fashion. Everyone must wear clothes in which they feel good and comfortable and which are fitting the wearer.

I like the way Mary jazzed up this pantsuit with the beautiful pomegranate coloured flower.and clutch purse. I know some disagree with me, but I find all black a bit dull and boring.

DeleteShe looks good in this suit, larger jacket and wide pants are in. Love the colour of her clutch. Her make up today is more natural,other than the brows which are a bit to dark. Regardless she looks lovely. I also like the look of the lady with the green skirt and low slung belt. Nice casual look.

ReplyDeleteI realize this is the fashion, wider pants, but overall I don't like this look regardless the Queen looks lovely. The blazer is longer, and somewhat a loose cut and fit, combined with the baggy pants, not a stylish look overall. I like the simple, subtle necklace.

La fleur en tissu j'adore : cette très belle couleur ressort magnifiquement sur le fond sombre, et la pochette du même rose rajoute vraiment de la vitalité et originalité à sa tenue. C'est aussi très symbolique : rajouter un peu le rose de l'espoir dans un très difficile et douloureux moment de deuil. La fleur en métaphore de renaissance. Paloma.
The suit would have just been another navy blue trouser suit,had it not been for the pop of color in the flower and clutch bag. Very ‘Mary-esque’! She has an eye for flare.
