King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia made a State Visit to Egypt from September 16 to 19. On September 19, the King and Queen began their day with a tour of the Luxor Museum, where Spanish archaeologists Myriam Seco and José Manuel Galán showed them archaeological pieces discovered during their respective excavation missions, currently on display at the museum. On this occasion, Queen Letizia wore a belted linen jacket by Carolina Herrera.
After visiting the museum, the King and Queen toured the Valley of the Kings, which, together with the city of Thebes and its necropolises, has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1979. They were also briefed on the project for the preservation and enhancement of the archaeological sites of Luxor and Giza, which includes the touristic development of the funerary tombs in the Valley of the Kings.
At the conclusion of their visit to the Valley of the Kings, King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia proceeded to Luxor Airport, where, after being bid farewell by the Governor of Luxor and Egypt’s Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, they departed for Spain, thus bringing their State Visit to the Arab Republic of Egypt to a close.

Another stand-out outfit on Letizia. She and CH were truly made for each other. The outfit looks so fresh, clean and cool - just perfect for a trip like this.
ReplyDeleteCredit to the King as well. He looks casually dashing, and the perfect pairing to his wife's sartorial choices.
And finally, the artifacts and structures in Luxor are simply stunning. Egypt has such a rich and profound culture dating back centuries. We are so fortunate for these restoration and preservation efforts to inform our history.

Ces images nous montrent que le couple royal a su choisir avec goût ses tenues parfaites pour cette visite !
ReplyDeleteJust wonderful!
ReplyDeleteI like this suit on Queen Letizia even better than the one she wore yesterday.
ReplyDeleteThe outfit is smart and appropriate but I fail to understand why she does not get the sleeves altered. These rolled up sleeves, which one sees so often with the queen, are too casual, to be polite.

Paloma.
DeleteFirst, they’re walking around outside in the desert for part of this outing. This is, in my opinion, pretty much the definition of a casual occasion, that calls for clothing appropriate to said casual occasion. The highs this time of year where they are are typically around 95F / 35C. A lot of the ancient sites in Luxor are NOT air-conditioned, and places like that long corridor have no windows and very little ventilation. Secondly, notice that everyone in the photos has rolled up sleeves. That’s because, while they’re spending a lot of time in very hot conditions, they have to be prepared for the occasional foray into somewhere that is air-conditioned. When that happens, the rolled sleeves come down. What we are looking at, again just in my opinion, is clothing on the King and Queen that is not only appropriate and very attractive, but eminently practical as well.
DeleteAh Virginia, she’s a woman outdoors in a hot dry country - we don’t need to hold her to absolute fashion perfection standards. Nothing impolite about rolling up a sleeve anywhere and certainly not here.
DeleteI envy this royal couple going to Luxor. It's one of the most fascinating places in the world. Letizia wore the perfect outfit for this region. The smart looking linen suit will keep her cool & comfortable. I'm sure Egypt is broiling hot.
ReplyDeleteVery fresh and relaxed looking pantsuit again. I also like the King's outfit. These pictures somehow remaind me of a movie "Death on the Nile" based on Agatha Christie's book.
ReplyDeleteOne of my favourite movies. The 1978 version - with Mia Farrow, Bette Davis, Angela Lansbury, Maggie Smith, and Peter Ustinov, as Hercule Poirot. It was so well done. The period fashions in that movie were exquisite!

Yes, I thought the same, the images in that movie were incredible. Such gorgeous landscape.
Delete@Anon 9:13 and @Ava Pittman, indeed!
DeleteLetizia wears white very well. She is a beautiful lady.

I love everything about Queen Letizia's outfit. She looks stunning white.
ReplyDeleteI simply love this gorgeous CP Belted linen jacket. I love the pocket features of the jacket, the long sleeves and length of the jacket. The pants work in well with the jacket. This ensemble was the perfect choice for this particular visit. The shoes, again a good choice. What beautiful images, such a glorious place.
ReplyDeleteEntirely agreed , Ava.
DeleteI know I probably shouldn't be making this remark on a fashion blog.
I could have written my fashion review and call it a day.
However, I just can't help but wonder how a country with such a glorious history, can still suffer from the outcomes of a dictatorship , including the lack of human rights.
P. the original. You commented on what I was thinking, looking at the beautiful photos. Incredible history and beautiful wrapped up in one, but the points you made in your last sentence, I concur and agree with. On a human level incredibly sad. Hugs to you.
DeleteHello @Ava.
DeleteIt is incredibily sad to see how this country, universally known as the cradle of civilisation and culture, has more and more undergone this sort of involution.
I wonder how such breathtaking historic heritage can co- exist with brutality and the systematic violation of human rights.
As much as I try hard to keep silent as far as political issues are concerned on this fashion blog, sometimes I just can't help myself.
Hugs to you 👋
..............
Sorry, Helen, I am all for the respect of individual freedom and human rights.
Thank you for allowing me to make this digression.
I have to keep my fashionista self aside at times and focus on what I think is much more relevant than fashion on some posts.
Queen Letizia is looking beautiful as always - classy and elegant. Yullia
ReplyDeleteLovely clothes on them both, safari!
