On September 10, 2025, King Frederik and Queen Mary of Denmark disembarked from the Royal Yacht Dannebrog at Nordre Toldbod in Copenhagen, marking the conclusion of the sailing season. On the deck, the Royal Couple bid farewell to the crew, particularly to the conscripts who have been training on board the yacht since April.

At Frederik VIII’s Palace at Amalienborg, King Frederik X and Queen Mary of Denmark will host this evening the officers of the Royal Yacht Dannebrog for the traditional 'strygemiddag' (farewell dinner). The term “strygemiddag” derives from the naval tradition of “striking the command,” meaning that the command pennant is lowered from the Royal Yacht Dannebrog, thereby marking the end of the sailing season.

Vestito bellissimo, ma ora un po’ stona con il clima visto che molta gente è ben coperta.
Forse non ha fatto in tempo ad indossarlo prima, io è la prima volta che lo vedo.

This is a beautiful Temperly dress but for me it only works if you are able to see the top overlay (sleeves and bodice) together with the bottom part of the overlay. In other words, the full dress. With Mary wearing the short black jacket, you can only see the bottom part and it gives a less than successful look to the dress (as if the lining or under-dress is too short, when it really isn't, within context).

      Hi Anon 9: 13.
As is usually the case I agree with everything that you have written.
We have seen this beautiful dress on Mary before
but on this occasion it is a pity that so much of it is covered up.
      Cheers. Cate.

yes i see what you mean. she has been doing that alot lately but again with jacket she looks more official than casual.

I don’t think there’s a choice but to add a jacket when out on the water! Fashion can be perfected but context/function has to come first for it to be logical.

Hands down ... the Danish people have a beautiful queen. The dress is ethereally beautiful and the whole composition with tiny jacket and summery hat with just a fine hint at a marine occasion with that hat band and the brooch is so well balanced between lightness and formality - this is excellent.

What is the high heels police? I don’t get that?? (When does an opinion become a police??). I agree that these heels are incredibly high, scary high for the ankles across cobbles. I also think this was a short show of shoes between ship - boat - chauffeur driven car so very little walking on them. The outfit would have also looked superb with any of the flat Mary has worn over the last few weeks!

You are probably new on this blog or since a short time. The high heels police are those who constantly have critics on royal ladies who are wearing high heels. Royal ladies who are tall received regularly "good advice" from those who said that they were tall enough and that they shouldn't wear high heels if they welcomed other royals who were shorter than them. On state visit they shouldn't wear high heels anymore if the king and/or queen of the country they visited was shorter than them, etc... Strange it were always the same royal ladies who were criticized. Never the Princess of Wales, never Queen Mary, etc... We also have the hair police.

Ah thank you 15:44 for your explanation! As a physiotherapist, I’ll very happily join your Heels Police and advise the already tall ladies to preserve their feet with healthier shoes that don’t wreak havoc on foot / ankle / knees!

I understand what you mean. But as well taller as shorter ladies can damage their feet with wearing too often high heels. It has nothing to do with length. The heels police they were only interested in criticizing the queens/princesses because they wore heels in the company of little royals, presidents, emperors, etc....
As if they didn't know what they could wear or not (protocol) during a state visit for example. Even when wearing flats the criticized royal ladies were taller than their hosts, so what is the point ?

Again British brands with strong ties to the english royals. 90% of Mary's outfits are from British brands linked to Catherine or Sophie. Whats the point of us danish citizen to financially support the Danish royals if the Queen does not even bother to wear local fashion.

Who links them to Catherine or Sophie, you? then talk for yourself please, I for one don't do anything like this because I don't think royals have to wear what you call local fashion. Most of high street brands are made somewhere else anyway, so who exactly do you want to "support"? This "supporting national brands" seems to be invented in internet chatrooms or blogs.

    2. Anonymous10/9/25 22:52

The brand was worn by Queen Mary back in 2009 so I don't know exactly how it relates to Kate Middleton. Interesting why you don't look at Sophie who on this tour was wearing a lot more foreign brands than English. Catherine last wore an American brand as well as a brand associated with Meghan and worn by her. I don't know what kind of Dane you are but you don't look it.

    3. Anonymous11/9/25 04:11

So annoying that the comparison to Catherine is on going. Let everyone be individuals. The various brands are appealing to several royals and they choose what they like and what suits them. National brands don’t necessarily do this.

Wearing lokal brands is not always a great idea . Just look at CP Victoria. Most of the Swedish brands she wears are not designed for her shorter and curvier body type.

    8. QMary wears Danish brand clothes and jeweler very very frequently. I’ve been following her fashions for 15 years and you are the first person I’ve heard complain about the designers she wears. Honestly- what if she was given that dress as a gift?

    9. P. the original12/9/25 13:39

      @ Shinistuffbuff
      Perfectly stated.
Who complains about Mary's picks must have a very restricted knowledge of the Danish brands- including Mary's accessoires- she has been donning over more than a decade, to say the least.
A royal lady's clothes are not a flag that has to be aired at every single event.
Never heard of such a bizarre conception of fashion.

  10. The dress is too lacey and as a result looks too much like a petticoat or nightgown. It also has the look of a tablecloth but a very fancy one. Mary misses the mark on this one.

Paloma.

Temperley London is a brand that has been worn by the Princess of Wales in the past. It is true that Queen Mary is wearing many brands that are sold in the U.K. and worn by members of the British royal family : Beulah, ME + EM (several dresses during their visits by boat), Temperley, etc... but also a lot of Zimmerman (Australian), Ralph Lauren (U.S.A.), ETRO (Italy) etc...
CP Victoria is wearing more Swedish or other Scandinavian brands than brands bought at or imported from other European countries.
This is not critizing. I am not Danish, so to me it is equal where they buy their clothes. It is just something I noticed since the time I am on this blog.
