On September 19, 2025, Crown Princess Mette-Marit attended the lecture ‘Frida Hansen and the Transparency Weaving Technique’, delivered by American weaver Robbie LaFleur. The lecture took place in the Collett Building (CollettgÃ¥rden) at the Norwegian Museum of Cultural History in Oslo, and was organized in collaboration with the museum’s resident artisans.
Frida Hansen (1855–1931) was a Norwegian textile artist associated with the Art Nouveau style. Her work served as a bridge between Norwegian and European tapestry. Robbie LaFleur has specialized in Norwegian tapestry weaving since the 1970s, when she studied at a folk art school in Fagernes. In 2019, LaFleur received a fellowship from the American Scandinavian Foundation to study the transparency weaving technique pioneered by the renowned Norwegian tapestry artist Frida Hansen.

ReplyDeleteThe royal court said yesterday that Mette-Marit will undergo a month of pulmonary rehabilitation in Norway from the beginning of October. She will therefore not carry out official assignments in October, but some exceptions are planned, such as the dinner for the representatives of the Storting(the parliament) on 23 October. The Crown Princess is scheduled to resume her official work in November.
MM herself say:-I should have done this a while ago, but it's suits to do it now. I need a little more help than before to deal with everyday life. She say she looks forward to meeting others who have the same lung disease and learn how to better control how to deal with everyday life with being chronically ill.
