    1. Because green is the color of Ireland. Didn't you know that?

So it is Ireland colour, why wear green when visiting. I mean a little green goes a long way.

It’s an honour thing, honouring those they visit. I find it a lovely tradition and besides this, find Anne has combined the greens very well and looks very polished.

Love Sabina’s skirt. Paired with the white blouse and green necklace a very soft feminine look. My dear Anne needed a darker lipstick. Quite the combination of greens.

Golly, must be cold in Dublin, as Anne is dressed in a coat/jacket.

Overcast, some rain and low 70's for the high temperature. That's cold to me but I live in the desert lol.

Not sure what country you are from but this look in England is less about temperature and more about formality. A jacket and skirt or coat dress are quite formal and honour the occasion and visit.

Anne looks rather smart here. Her jacket fits well (love the colour) and I like the way her white shirt collar points out from over her knotted scarf. The various greens also blend well. I just wish she'd worn gloves the colour of her skirt (they look black on my screen).

Mrs.Higgins also looks good. Her skirt is lovely with the lace overlay, and the white shirt-blouse compliments it perfectly.

I agree with all your comments about Anne's outfit. I too am often disappointed by Anne's too frequent use of all-black accessories. Nude, grey, khaki or brown - like Mrs Higgins' shoes -would work so much better with her lighter-coloured clothes.
However for me, Mrs. Higgins' outfit lacks proportion - it cuts her in half. It would have looked more cohesive if she had worn the matching jacket. And a necklace more refined in texture and shape, i.e.less casual, would harmonise better with the ornate fabric of the skirt. Lyra

I think Anne chooses her gloves to match bag and shoes, this was how my mum dressed growing up too. I think this explains why the gloves weren’t chosen to match the skirt as you suggest. Hope that helps!

Nice to see Pss Anne again. Nice Jacket. Anne also wears gloves every time one sees her just like her mother the late Queen E II did. Has this to do with Germs?

I read once that she preferred to wear gloves while shaking hands. Hiwever I often

Oops I often wonder if she prefers to cover hands because she does alot of outdoor work, grooming horses so hides roughness or blemishes.

I don’t think it’s about germs, as these gloves are dress gloves out of fine materials which breathe, and not plastic. It’s a style choice, and she matches them to bag and shoes each time.

You are not new on this blog. You should know we had this discussion about the gloves and the germs before. Let it rest, it won't change anything anyway.

  7. Anne a su combiner deux verts avec élégance ; j'aurais bien aimé voir de plus près le collier de l'épouse du Président ?!

  8. I like the Princess Royal’s outfit, although the long jacket looks vaguely out of date. It’s a nice colour. Mrs Higgins would have looked smarter with some kind of jacket and it would have given her a more flattering silhouette

    1. In photo N°5 Princess Anne is giving us an example of how a lady should correctly sit when in formal company.
Oh! by the way .....could Mr and Mrs Michael Higgins be by any chance related to Mr Henry Higgins of My-Fair-Lady?
Just wondering, you know, - nothing else.

The best way to sit is NOT to put your one leg over the other but to sit with one ankle next to the other and keep your knees closed (much healthier too cfr. blood circulation).

Princess Anne is dressed like in autumn. If only she would wear lighter accessories like shoes, handbag, gloves .....

  12. I do not like the length of her jacket. It could be shorter or the same length as her dress imo. Or if they were in same colour. Now these two different green look odd to me.
    Nice visit though.
