Gamlehaugen in Bergen has been the King’s official residence for 100 years. The jubilee was celebrated on Tuesday evening, when King Harald and Queen Sonja invited more than 4,000 residents of Bergen to an outdoor concert. Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit also attended the concert. Before the concert, King Harald, Crown Prince Haakon, and Crown Princess Mette-Marit hosted a reception at the royal residence in Bergen.
Queen Sonja never disappoints, always elegant and tasteful, I adore her. The Crown Princess: Her coat is, may I say: somewhat clownesque - what an absurd choice. But dark blue is a good colour for her.
ReplyDeleteClown princess looks beautiful in black, not so much in the maxi dress.
DeleteNorwegian patterns are traditional, don't look clownish. What an insulting word to use.
DeleteI don’t find Mette Marit’s colourful jacket clownesque at all. Rather, colourful and beautiful. Love that she’s paired it with camel coloured flats.

DeleteWhat if someone should call you a clown?
Then, please wear your glasses as this fabulous gown (no maxi dress) is not black but in a beautiful midnight blue shade slightly veering toward navy.
I like the dark blue (black?) outfit on MM but am not too sure of the coloured coat/dress. Would like a better photo of it. In any case, really happy to see MM and the whole family, especially K. Harald, out and about and enjoying a nice time.

Great to see the four senior royals out together. Not sure if they planned it, but their outfits coordinate in a lovely, quiet way. I do wish the coat on MM wasn’t full length. It’s an interesting pattern and could look less matronly in a jacket or knee length. The navy outfit underneath is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI like the queens coral jacket a slacks, they both flare at the bottom. MM, her multiple coloured coat, a no for me, however the colours suit her so well. The king and CP both have well fitting suits.
ReplyDeleteOh dear those comfy shoes on the queen, just not a fan, it takes away from the pretty dress. But if she like the comfort than so be it.
ReplyDeleteGiven Queen Sonja is 88 years old perhaps this style of shoe is not only comfortable but also necessary for her feet--stability, a foot or ankle issue, even a way to accommodate some sort of orthotic. Janet
DeleteAre Queen Sonja's shoes more of a Norwegian style? I don't see this design of shoe in America. Not saying we don't have some unusual (even weird) styles. Just wondering .......
Delete@Virginia, I think they might be British made, by one of the shoemakers Camilla uses. I can’t remember the name of the brand, but saw it listed about a year ago. They look to be secure and warm shoes for the older client and it’s good to see she has a style that works for her, isn’t it?
DeleteImagine having the space at your (second or third) home to invite 4000 people over. They appear approachable and I love that, but it’s a reminder just how differently they live from most! Love MM’s muted coloured jacket and the camel ballerinas.
ReplyDeleteThe 4000 guests were not inside the royal residence, they were in an outdoor concert. You can read it in the capture and you can see the photos taken outside. The reception was only for certain people and was held at the royal residence before the concert.
DeleteIt looks like MM is wearing a navy blue jumpsuit at the reception, it looks good on her. The long coat is playful and fun, nice colors too.
I did read the description Zucchini, hence my preposition “at”, not “in” their home. Besides which, it was light hearted and not meant to be taken seriously! (nor corrected …) just a reflection of their space for 4000 versus what most of us live with!
DeleteLa reine porte à merveille cette tunique de couleur corail, retrouvée mélangée dans les motifs du léger manteau de Mette-Marit que je trouve un peu trop long @
ReplyDeleteQ Sonja always in style, MM looks nice. So nice to see them all together at an event.
