On August 28, 2025, King Frederik X and Queen Mary arrived at Kolby Kås Harbor in Samsø Municipality aboard the Royal Yacht Dannebrog as part of this year’s summer cruise. Upon arrival, the King and Queen were welcomed by the Mayor of Samsø Municipality, Marcel Meijer, at the harbor in Kolby Kås. Together with Mayor Meijer and his spouse, the King and Queen rode in a carriage through Tranebjerg to Anton Rosen’s House.
At Anton Rosen’s House, the King and Queen were introduced to the members of Samsø Municipal Council, after which Mayor Meijer delivered an official welcome speech to Their Majesties on Anton Rosen’s Square. Anton Rosen’s House was designed by architect Anton Rosen and built in 1900 by the Samsø Craftsmen’s Association as a technical school.
Upon arrival at Tranebjerg Church, the King and Queen were welcomed by Lis Nymark, former director of Samsø Museum and current member of the Samsø Parish Council. Tranebjerg Church is a medieval church with Denmark’s largest village church tower.
Their Majesties were given a presentation about the church, which is particularly known for its well-preserved tithe barn, where farmers once delivered crops as tithes and which was later used as a secret ammunition depot during the Napoleonic Wars.
The King and Queen later arrived in Nordby, at the town’s iconic bell tower, and walked down to the village pond, where Their Majesties met with local food producers who presented their products and production methods. Nordby is one of Denmark’s best-preserved villages, known for its cobblestone streets, well-preserved half-timbered houses, and historical atmosphere.
Lovely dress, but it’s better combination in the little picture with the belt and that jacket!
ReplyDeleteI agree. There is something a little heavy about the hat plus the long blazer over this dress. If Mary wore just the hat or just the jacket with this dress, the look would be more balanced. Lyra

Delete@20:39 I just came to the comments to write the opposite! I much prefer a jacket over dress without a belt, which feels heavy and a bit masculine to me. Love this outfit, especially lovely for greeting people and walking up to a windmill. Lovely countryside chic.

I love this dress and I'm so glad to see Queen Mary have another chance to wear it again before the real change of season hits. It's beautiful on her and I love how she styles it--and I love this hat. As others have pointed out it does have an Aussie vibe. I recall Mary referring to seeing Frederik in his dress uniform for the first time and essentially saying he was so good looking that she better step up her game. Well, he is very handsome in his uniform and, Queen Mary, you certainly have met and exceeded the standard you set for yourself.

Lovely dress, great to see a re wear. The skirt has nice movement. This style suits her beautifully. Her jacket looks lovely. She wears this style of hat well.

DeleteAs far as I can spot in these shots, heels must be around 7-8 cm.
Of course, they are not 12 cm high , to allow the Queen to walk as comfortably as possible around the streets and visit the scheduled locations.
I agree that it’s unusual to see Mary in low heels and that these look really good, and of course much better for a walk around town.

DeleteThese dresses by EM + ME are not my favourites. She wore a similar one the other day when they visited Thisted. She paired it with a short black jacket and a bigger hat than this one. But they are both too long and the print is more suitable for wall paper or bedroom curtains. The cream jacket she wears now does not give enough contrast to wear with this dress. Maybe with a brown short jacket it could be better. Dresses with buttons until the hemline, I do not like either.
ReplyDeleteOooh I have loved them both. They are so feminine and pretty. I think these accessories - jacket, shoes, hat - are the perfect match for this “country chic” outfit and for the context of the visit. ( On the other hand, I would be overwhelmed to live in a house with wallpaper or curtains using this dress pattern! I much prefer a northern European styling of wood floors, white walls and using shutters or plain blinds instead of curtains!)
DeleteNobody said that these prints are still used for wall papers and curtains today. It is something that was fashion a longtime ago. Today everybody can choose in a very elaborated quantity of materials and colors to decorate their houses. It is a saying where I live that a print like in Mary's dress looks like wall paper.

I think that only three royal ladies can wear hats really well and do them justice: Q.Mary, Q.Maxima and the Princess of Wales.
The pic showing the doggy welcoming the King is tender and priceless.

ReplyDeleteAgain a nice jacket to wear with a dress - among other things, it weakens the wallpaper effect (if any - because a sleeveless dress is somewhat less prone to this effect than a long sleeved one). As somebody mentioned the other day: the rounded front of a jacket contributes a lot to it, besides not being too long. The upturned sleeves are also nice in this combination. And the hat is and elegantly playful addition.
