On July 1, 2025, Queen Mathilde of Belgium visited the Coopérative Paysans-Artisans in Floreffe, a citizen-led initiative launched in 2013 to promote local, organic, and sustainable farming as well as short supply chains. The visit focused specifically on access to quality food for people living in poverty and was organized in collaboration with the Walloon Network for the Fight against Poverty (le Réseau wallon de Lutte contre la Pauvreté).
Poverty reduction is one of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations, which the Queen has been actively promoting in Belgium and abroad since 2016. For the occasion, the Queen wore a two-tone pink and plum midi dress by The Fold.

Again quite good!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful dress!
ReplyDeleteElégant modèle ceinturé que Mathilde a déjà porté dont j'aime beaucoup le haut sur la jupe ample !
ReplyDeleteApart from the becoming cut of the bodice, there is nothing about this dress (or the shoes or the shawl) which is in harmony with Mathilde. So glad that she has many other frocks which are gorgeous on her! Lyra.
ReplyDeleteGreat color. A bit overdressed for a visit to a food pantry/distribution center. -AW
ReplyDeleteLovely dress. As far as being overdressed for the occasion, it’s a plain summer dress, albeit with a strong pattern. Plain shoes and a wrap to keep her warm in the food storage area, which presumably is cold. It’s obviously semi formal event judging by the people in sashes. You don’t want her turning up in jeans and trainers.
DeleteYes possible overdressed for a food distribution centre - but I see it two ways: 1/ if a queen shows up more casually she is probably more relatable (which is something I love when I see it), but 2/ if a queen shows up hyper-elegant, then it’s a very good fun visit seeing the queen looking very queens! That said, I think this dress is gorgeous for Mathilde. The colours, the fit, the shape - stunning!
DeleteQueen Mathilde often uses fashion to signal dignity and respect for the organizations she visits—perhaps the intent here was to elevate the importance of the work being done and the people involved.
DeleteI disagree. Being the queen, it’s a great kind of dress for this visit.
DeleteI disagree ladies of all ages in Europe wear dresses for all occasions unlike north america that wear shorts, pants jeans.

DeleteOf course there are people in sashes. It is the mayor of the city of Floreffe and someone of the town officials. If you read the introduction carefully you should know that the initiative of organizing the access to good agricultural products for people living in poverty can only take place due to the collaboration between the "Coopérative des Paysans-Artisans de Floreffe" and the Walloon Network for the Fight against Poverty with the support of UN and Queen Mathilde who is actively promoting the 17 sustainable goals of the UN concerning the fight against poverty since 2016.
I think the majority of the commenters here do not know or understand everything Queen Mathilde is doing and how hard she is working.
She is such a lovely queen I want to like her choice of this dress. Other than the fit and style, it is not a pretty dress. For me the pattern is to bold, the colours are a good contrast but come off bland looking. Not the best, not the worst rewear.
ReplyDeleteI see it the other way! I find it a stunning dress for Mathilde, incredibly flattering style and colours. I would have loved to see her pair it with ballerinas to simplify it a little given the context of the visit.
DeleteNot so good dress on Mathilde, neither the colour nor the pattern are to her advantage.
ReplyDeleteThe clean lines and structured silhouette certainly align with her typical sartorial choices for official visits.
DeleteThat said, it’s perfectly fair to feel that a particular outfit doesn’t resonate. Royals walk a fine line in dressing for symbolism, season, and setting—sometimes one element takes precedence over personal flattery.
Really well said, Anon 18:30.

DeleteOh my word, it is summer, and then these darkish colours ??
ReplyDeleteAlthough the dress is not new, these colors are fashion this Summer.
DeleteWhat I do not understand why Queen Mathilde needed a shawl. At 9 o'clock this morning in Brussels it was already 27 ° C. At noon the t° was 32 ° C . and it was getting warmer and warmer. After her adventure with King Philippe in Chile, she looks tired. They were back home only yesterday and should have been back on Thursday already.
We get to wear all the colours of the rainbow in summer. The main thing is that the colours suit the wearer and I find these colours perfect for Mathilde!
DeleteThe sophisticated yet vibrant color combination added warmth and elegance to the occasion, perfectly aligned with the community-focused event.
DeleteAnon 16:47 That is just not a thing anymore. We can wear whatever colors we want, any time of year. The weather, type of fabric and cut of the clothes are of more importance than the color if you want to dictate what should be worn in each season.
Delete!17:13 Regarding their late arrival home in Belgium - they were a day late leaving Belgium due to a mechanical issue with their airplane & were also a day late leaving Chile due to the same issue. That would negatively affect anybody; they obviously had to adjust their schedule. ~~Ruthie

DeleteThey were expected to be back on Thursday and they only came back on Sunday, which is 2 1/2 later.
To anan 17:13: the queen was in a cool cellar where the food is stored, hence the shawl
DeleteAnon 18:26, don’t paste in AI written stuff, use your own words please!!
DeleteLove this dress, both before and now.
ReplyDelete- Anon 9:13
She's so pretty but she dressed like an old grandma.

The pattern has a certain (good and lovely) extravaganza, far away from your usual summery florals - but that does not mean she is overdressed. I like this dress very much, pattern and colour and style - the only minus is that monstrous belt buckle.
ReplyDeleteI like this dress. She looks good.

This dress looks splendid, I love the addition of her shawl. Her shoe color, perfect. Imo this dress was a good choice today for the Queen.
ReplyDeleteReally lovely dress, and looks great on Mathilde! I also love the earrings.
ReplyDeleteLucky the dress is not by Natan otherwise all the blame was for him. I read the same comments over and over, Natan or not. Besides Queen Mathilde likes these belts. She had many dresses in the past with a wide skirt and a wide belt.
ReplyDeleteI even read in one of the comments something about her shoes. Although her shoes are also back in fashion again "slingbacks". Or was it the color "black" ? When Beatrice Borromeo wears black shoes with a pale cotton dress almost everybody likes it. [In fact black shoes and handbag can be worn in all seasons according to (with all my respect) Queen Elizabeth II] .When Queen Mathilde takes an older pair of black sling backs out of her dressing oh no this is not good. Come on, what I read lately on this blog are comments "à la tète du client".
Mais ses chaussures ne sont pas noires. Elles sont de couleur prune, donc assorties aux motifs de la robe et à sa pochette.
DeleteEt personne n'a écrit de reproches sur ses chaussures ici.
I agree with Anon 11:25 Mathilde's shoes are not black. Slingbacks haven't gone out of style, but they are not as commonly worn as pumps.
DeleteThis is a stunning dress on Mathilde! But I would tweak it in a couple of ways to achieve utter perfection: First, I would confine the bold pattern to the skirt, keeping the bodice plain in that gorgeous rose hue. Second, to provide counterweight to the visual impact of the pattern, this dress needs sleeves — short ones if the weather is hot, but sleeves are definitely needed, imo. (That is why the outfit looks so much better in the photo where Mathilde is wearing a shawl.) — Jane
ReplyDeleteI can envision the dress with the solid top and sleeves.it would look different and I think I would like it better. I like this style dress very much.
DeleteThe shape of the dress is nice, however the colors are not matched well, are dull, and 'wash out' Mathilda's pretty complexion. Rather fussy shoes to wear to a food pantry, added to the odd dress combine for results that gainnegative feedback.
ReplyDeleteBurgundy and pink is a classic color combination. The burgundy is well placed in a block color at the waist, using that darker color to minimize the look of the waist. There is more to her just visiting a food pantry. Please see above, anon 11:39.
