On July 2, 2025, Queen Mary of Denmark received Mark Suzman, CEO of the Gates Foundation, for a meeting focused on the foundation’s work in maternal and newborn health. The meeting took place at Frederik VIII’s Palace at Amalienborg. For the occasion, Queen Mary wore a new floral wrap midi dress by Vanessa Bruno.
Together with the Danish government, the Gates Foundation supports the “10 Million Safer Births Initiative,” which is built on a clear goal: to provide up to 10 million women with access to safer childbirth by the end of 2030 across sub-Saharan Africa. Queen Mary serves as patron of the initiative for a three-year term.
Also present at the meeting were Elsebeth Søndergaard Krone, Director for Development Policy at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Anja Langenbucher, Director of the Gates Foundation’s European Office; Dr. Sanjana Bhardwaj, Deputy Director for Family Planning, Maternal, Newborn, Child Nutrition and Health and Primary Health Care; and Danish representative Morten Nyegaard.
The dress looks very comfortable but the color is really quite boring. To me it looks like what we used to call "house dresses," and would only wear at home.
ReplyDeleteYes it does. Maybe it's laundry day at the palace?
Deleteyes does look like a house dress, colour sames as skin tone not always good
DeleteWell, she IS at home, welcoming guests to work with her there! Wrap dresses are lovely to wear and look very feminine I think. I find the colours on Mary’s dress to be very flattering to her and at the same time relaxed for summer. I also really like the black and white one on one of the guests - Mary
DeleteI thought the same. Especially in the summertime more colour. CC
DeleteI had a good laugh with the "house" dress comment. I was thinking it was matronly or schoolmarm. And yes I agree the colour is boring but the pattern is nice.
DeleteThe color is red-orange on an ecru background. Never heard of Mary having red-orange skin, but you never know :-)) - and anyway, just a quick "granny house dress" judgement is simpler than think twice - for example, about the light in a staircase where these photos were made. This is not a catwalk.
DeleteVanessa Bruno! Is a really good/young brand! I like it she tries more different brands and her daughters can lent from HM.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Mary! It looks good.
Nice patron and shoes very comfortable.
This is a very nice dress, and well chosen. This is a business meeting on a very high level (just look at the list of participants), which is truly not the right occasion to make a colourful or otherwise fancy fashion statement. In this light, she made a perfect decision: casual and summery, but well within the boundaries of businesslike. Well done and pretty!
ReplyDeleteHmmm, it is just okay, pattern and fit are nice, something is not showing it well.. Perhaps the shape/length of the sleeve or the open neckline. Maybe just a brighter lipstick would brighten her look. Looks comfortable though
ReplyDeleteThis is really a dull colour, cannot make anything else of it.
ReplyDeleteQuite surprise that QM is wearing so ordinary looking quite boring dress: she has so many lovely dresses in her wardrope already,
ReplyDeleteI usually very much like Vanessa Bruno, but this makes Q Mary look like a granny.
ReplyDeleteOef I am not the only one who thought immediately at a granny dress. Not the grannies of today who are looking much better, but my granny.
DeleteThis dress is old fashion with the little flowers and then the color. I do not see anything business in it, just granny who finished her ironing and is now going to bake cookies.
Elégant ce modèle imprimé mais il manque un peu de couleurs ; ces chaussures me semblent assez confortables
ReplyDeleteI like the dress, but stated above perhaps it is because it is the same colour as her skin tone that does not stand out. I wonder if in person or a different light it looked better. I like the print and colour just needs a pop of colour to brighten her face.
ReplyDeleteNot the best, I find it makes her older.
