Britain's Princess Anne and Belgium's Princess Claire attended the commemorations for the reopening of the Menin Gate

On July 7, 2025, Britain's Princess Anne and Belgium's Princess Claire attended the commemorations for the reopening of the Menin Gate Memorial in Ypres, Belgium, which honors more than 54,000 missing Commonwealth soldiers from the war. The monument had been closed since early 2023 for extensive restoration work. The Menin Gate is one of four memorials to the missing in Belgian Flanders, covering the area known as the Ypres Salient.

How lovely to see them together! Princess Claire is British I believe. This is a must see for people visiting Belgium, their Last Post music daily at 8PM is really impressive.

Lovely outfit on P.Claire. Jacket and dress both look good and so does the colour combinations. Anne's coat is also nice, especially the lapels.

Despite her "Vintage" clothes, Princess Anne always looks stunning, it is her beautiful figure that never fails to catch my attention (and a tad of envy). Probably chalk it up to her riding, exercise and hard work. Gorgeous legs that she doesn't feel the need to hide under granny dresses. If she could just find it in herself to ditch the gloves.

I don't mind the gloves, it is part of the royal tradition, but I wish she would cut her hair, it doesn't suit her anymore.

I agree. I find this coat especially flattering. I wouldn't be surprised to learn it is 30 or 40 years old. She does have an enviable figure and nice legs. I couldn't agree more about the gloves. I understood the Queen wearing them because she was from a very different time and gloves were just as much a part of her iconic look as her handbag, but Anne is young enough that she can't use the same reason for wearing them. To me, it sends a message of "us" and "them".

I had a winter coat like princess Anne in the 70s, but it was in a thicker wool quality. Even the color was about the same. I remember it was a very warm coat, when I was waiting for the train to go to work at the nearest city. In those days we wore coats and dresses, or skirts, blouses and sweaters to go to work and knee high boots. Almost nobody is going to work like this unless you are driving a car. Man and women wo are taking a train or a bus are wearing parka's with a warm lining and pants and a sweater underneath or a pantsuit for the ladies and a classic suit for the men. Times have changed but for some I think they are still living like 50 years ago.

No no, don’t make a negative judgement of a relationship based on a microsecond of an interaction in a photo. To me it looks like Anne is listening.

I like this colour on PAnne. Her hair needs some attention but I don’t hold any hope. This war memorial patronage is dear to me as my grandfather in WWI volunteered to repatriate fallen soldiers to commonwealth cemeteries, a difficult duty. But Anne never disappoints with her dedication and wearing her lipstick.

Some are sticking in the old days, as if the world stood still. They don't change their hairstyle and prefer death hair instead of healthy hair. They keep on wearing their old clothes perfumed with moth balls, instead of buying a new coat or dress or two-pieces skirt and jacket according the fashion rules of today (and I don't mean the fashion that teenagers are wearing, but the classic fashion which is still available at specialized fashion houses and worn by classic aristocratic ladies). Believe me there is a big difference between old outfits even if they are not worn out and new classic pieces bought today. These new classics are not cheap but their style is recommended for ladies who prefer being dressed in chic and classic clothes which will stay in fashion for many years.

If Princess Anne wore her slightly dated clothes here and there, I would not mind, but the trick is to mix the new and the old, many smart women and men do that.
What she certainly needs is NEW shoes, handbags and other accessories to pep up her outfits. Her hair needs an uplift, she is a public figure and not that young any more.
