On Friday, July 11, 2025, Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume and Hereditary Grand Duchess Stéphanie of Luxembourg hosted a reception in the gardens of Berg Castle for honorary consuls and foreign trade advisors from around the world, who had gathered for a conference organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Honorary consuls are volunteers who represent the interests of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg abroad and assist Luxembourg nationals around the world. For the occasion, the Hereditary Grand Duchess wore an off-white tapestry-print maxi dress by FARM Rio.
FARM Rio flower tapestry off-white maxi dress
The dress has a more "beachy" vibe, which - imho - doesn't match the occasion.
ReplyDeletemy thoughts too, with flats or wedge shoes not heels
DeleteI think Stéphanie should look better in blonde hair! Åsa Markström
ReplyDeleteshe has blonde hair, what color do u see?
DeleteIn my opinion, this dress is to casual for a reception. It should be more elegant.
ReplyDeleteDress N° 4. She will never learn it. This dress is not appropriate for the reception. Where are all her Summer dresses, she wore last year ? I am sure there must be some dresses which are better than these shapeless folkloric vacation dresses she is wearing lately.
ReplyDeleteMaybe she just loves the dress and wants to wear it because she loves it? :-)
DeleteThis is a typically a FARMRio dress ; they don't follow fashion in the same way as ordinary dresses. I like it very much. The shoes are too formal for the dress, but it doesn't chock me.
Delete0733 the point being liking what you wear versus and what you should wear.
DeleteI wish I had the impetus to waste time on judging what people should wear because this would mean I'd have no more pressing things to worry about. The dress is absolutely fine, relax.
Delete@Anon 21 15, if you are not interested in judging what people wear, why do you visit this site?
Delete@2:01 this is not a site for people interested to judge others! It’s someone’s blog that has been around for many years, and this blogger posts photos of royals. There happens to be a comment section at the base of each blog post. It is not here for judgement!
DeleteThe reception is a garden reception - a floral dress is lovely for that. Besides, when you are the princess or queen, your dress sets the tone for the event, not the other way around! Regarding the model in the final photos, I feel she would have looked much better in flat sandals, runners or even bare feet … are those shoes she’s got on the designer having fun - or a serious fashion statement?
ReplyDeleteDo you see anyone else in a flower dress of this category in the public ?
DeleteShe has been wearing this dress style on all the events she attended lately.
@7:54 … she’s most likely — and this is just a theory — been wearing the clothes she wears because: she likes them! Aha. Imagine eh? Probably just like you, wearing what you like, not thinking you’ll be told you’re wrong for wearing what you like. It’s all ok.
DeleteWhat caught my eye are the open toe pumps. Those went out of style about 15 years ago or more. Please give those away to charitable organizations. Our royal ladies need to remember that when they are on stage and at public events, they are representing a country - not just themselves and they need dress accordingly. That means both respectful, fashionable and appropriate for the event. Occasionally some events are the type where you can be quirky or casual.
ReplyDeleteRepresenting your country is important! - so dressing respectfully is important, I totally agree! But being fashionable is optional, and dressing as we might prefer is optional too. Stephanie is always neatly dressed with clean clothes and clean shoes and beautifully styled hair. We don’t have any right to suggest she be more than that. We can also say we prefer other styles or comment on the garment design/designers. In this case, a floral dress for a garden party - you go girl Stephanie - completely fitting fit the occasion.
DeleteIf these shoes are so out of fashion why give to a charity organization, it is okay for less wealthy to be out of style
DeleteIn answer to Anon 17 01, many wealthy people shop in charity shops as they wish to be more sustainable. Also, many of those who do have very little money rate quality of item over style
DeleteIn answer to Anon 23 or, I still have open toed courts and sandals. I have truly never heard this before
@VD. Many designers seem to have missed your memo about perp toe shoes not being on trend. Nordstrom has many available including from designers favoured by royals
DeleteYou are so critical!!! She is beautiful in beautiful summer dress! Hello? It is a garden party!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely agree.
Delete@Anon 10:01 "But being fashionable is optional": Yes, yes, how very true. Let us remember Her Late Majesty Elizabeth II, consequently not following fashion (valid not only for her latest years), and also her daughter the Princess Royal. Of course, we can take notice about someone not being fashionable, but this is not the quality by means of which royals represent their country. - I don't like what Stephanie wears here (except the shoes, they are fine), but she is a highly intelligent, cultivated person representing what she has to represent in an excellent way, even if this dress does not do her any favours (the opposite is the case).
DeleteThe colours are good on her, I think I would like it if the hem was even. This is like a long shirt dress which must be cool to wear in this heat.
ReplyDeleteThis dress is just all wrong. It’s shapeless and has a beach kaftan vibe, the hemline is weird and the pattern overpowering. Searching for any positives, the neckline is good and the shoes are better than those of the model
ReplyDeleteC’est vraiment désolant de constater à quel point t Stéphanie n’a pas de goût.
ReplyDeleteJe vais m’ennuyer de Maria Teresa.
Whoa! I find that harsh. Her clothes may not be to your taste but to say she is without taste is a harsh criticism.
DeleteMT doesn't dress very well either.
DeleteJanet
oh dear oh dear, on Stephanie this dress is a tablecloth. Someone with black hair like Jetsun Pema -- or like the model shown -- could pull this off, but Stephanie's colouring is too delicate for this. She is overwhelmed by this dress. Lyra.
ReplyDeleteI love this type of dress purely to look at, but they don't look good on hardly anyone. If you are other than extremely thin, they will make you luck bulge-y and pregnant, if you aren't made up and your hair is dirt blond, you look as if the dress had swallowed you and just the head looked out of its maw. You can't win with this sort of dress. Mind you, this is not to critizise Stephanie, rather to sympathize with her. I would LOVE to wear a dress like that successfully, but I am a similar type to Stephanie and we just can't.
DeleteLyra, j'ai pensé comme vous, ce tissu fait penser à une nappe. Paloma.
DeleteI’m not a fan of this dress especially the hemline. As already mentioned I don’t feel this is appropriate for this event.
ReplyDeleteWith a straight Helmond it would be a lovely dress…..
ReplyDeleteQue voulez-vous dire par un Helmond ?
DeleteObvious typo, should be: hem.
Delete- Anon 9:13
I agree with Nicole.c34. @ An 13:06 Please, it has to be taken into account that her morphology has changed after the birth of her children, and she has far less choice than a thinner person ! I prefer her style, with some "take it easy" features than the invariable Camilla style, of course they are not in the same age category.

A nice light floral dress for a garden party on a hot day. I'd personally go with a strappier shoe but I like the colour she has chosen. Her hair and makeup have held up well to the weather.
ReplyDeleteI was NOT suggesting Stephanie throw away shoes that are out of style but still have wear in them. But donate to those who can't afford clothing and are grateful for "hand me downs". Once upon a time, I was too. And fortunately my mother sewed. But I'm guessing Stephanie has a pretty good budget for nicer clothes and new shoes when she is on public display. Has anyone counted the various shoes Queen Letizia wears? I think she must like shoes (as do I) and changed her wardrobe to lower heels, perfectly ok for her.
