At the invitation of President Khurelsukh Ukhnaa, Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako of Japan are undertaking a State Visit to Mongolia. On July 11, 2025, they attended the opening ceremony of Naadam, Mongolia’s traditional festival, at the national stadium in the capital, Ulaanbaatar, alongside President Khurelsukh and First Lady Luvsandorj Bolortsetseg.
Naadam, which means “festival” in the Mongolian language, is a national celebration featuring the country's three traditional sports—wrestling, horse racing, and archery—alongside other cultural events. This major festival is held annually for three days starting on July 11, which commemorates Mongolia’s revolution day. Naadam was inscribed on Unesco’s Intangible Cultural Heritage list in 2010.
Watch that pant length - not sitting on the shoes, also not too short, we see the shoes, but not the stockings or skin. This applies to Masako, the Emperor's pants are some millimeters away from Japanese perfection. Beautiful brooch, sure it signifies something - would be nice to know what.
ReplyDeleteExcellent comment, re- pant length. Perfection.
ReplyDeleteAh, the Empress' profile picture with the binoculars so much reminds me of Princess Margaret, Countess of Snowdon, back in the 1960's. The colour is so nice on her, and the wide pants look really good in that ensemble.
ReplyDeleteI love the interaction between the IM’s in photo 4!
ReplyDeleteHIM looks stunning in this shade of blue. The top/tunic over palazzo trouser is a new look, but extremely flattering. As we’ve come to expect from this elegant lady, beautiful tailoring.
Lowri.
Um, I'm not sure what to say.

ReplyDeleteWhen the Emperor and Empress of Japan visited the UK, the Empress wore a mask while riding in the carriage with Queen Camilla because she is allergic to horses.
In Japan, it was reported that Empress Masako is taking great care, such as taking medication and sometimes wearing double masks. From the information reported, it seems that the Empress has a severe horse allergy, but will she be okay for this visit to Mongolia?
Um, I'm not sure what to say.
ReplyDelete皇后陛下のブローチは、私には翡翠の彫刻のように見えます。
ReplyDeleteこのデザインはモンゴルの国の花であるエーデルワイスではないでしょうか。
皇后陛下にとても良くお似合いですね。
The last picture is funny. The Mongolian men with their arches and dresses and
ReplyDeleteEmpress Masako in a Japanese version of a pant suit for ladies. I am always wondering what are they thinking of each other.
She looks radiant in this color blue....I love her shoe shade too.
ReplyDeleteElegant, great look for the Empress. Love the color of this combination, the brooch is superb.
