On July 11, 2025, Japanese Crown Prince Fumihito, Crown Princess Kiko, and their children Princess Kako and Prince Hisahito visited the special exhibition "80 Years after the Atomic Bombing", held at the Tokyo Photographic Art Museum. This exhibition features approximately 160 photographs and two films documenting the atomic bombing of Hiroshima, captured by citizens, photojournalists, and professional photographers.

Much of the exhibition is drawn from the “Visual Archives of the Hiroshima Atomic Bombing—Photographs and Films in 1945,” which includes 1,532 photographs and two films. In 2023, the Hiroshima city government and several media organizations jointly submitted these materials to UNESCO’s Memory of the World Register.

Since all of the royal women dress so similarly, I have always suspected that the Imperial Household has a basic pattern for skirts, dresses and jackets that they use for all of the women, then approved details can be added to the basic design. The jackets Kiko and Kako are wearing are a bit of proof. The turned up cuffs on their jackets are identical.

Kako's jacket is a very feminine cut and more flattering for her young figure than the boxier cut of her mother's jacket. The colors are quite appropriate for the topic of this exhibition. It's good to see they are preserving the history of that sad time in the world.

Always so serious and unhappy looking. I guess they think their face will crack if they smile. At least the other daughter escaped by marriage. It would be nice if the remaining daughter could dress more modern instead of dressing like her mother.
