On June 3, 2025, Crown Princess Victoria, Prince Daniel, Princess Estelle, and the Executive Director of the Princess Estelle Cultural Foundation, Sara Sandström, attended the unveiling of the sixth permanent artwork at the Princess Estelle Sculpture Park, located in Royal Djurgården in Stockholm. The 2025 Artist of the Year is Monika Sosnowska, based in Warsaw.
The new sculpture, titled Museum, is by Polish artist Monika Sosnowska. The inspiration for her work stems from a planned art museum in Rosendal, initiated by King Karl XIV Johan in the 1830s. Although it was planned for over a decade, the museum was never built. However, hundreds of marble pieces were commissioned and have since remained in storage. Museum is the sixth work acquired by the Princess Estelle Cultural Foundation.

DeleteAll of a sudden, Estelle resembles Victoria more than Daniel. Maybe easing herself slowly into womanhood brings this change. I like what Victoria is wearing, I would like it much more with a bit less skirt length.

ReplyDeleteIn any case, I like to see that Estelle´s short dress is slightly longer in the back than in the front. Very short dresses and skirts, especially if they have some volume, tend too be to short in the back, even if the hem is technically even all around.
The sculpture looks depressing unfortunately. I don´t see the appeal in raw concrete. Out of curiosity, I looked up the description for the sculpture and it reads: "Eleven of the nearly 200-year-old original pieces, initially intended to adorn the museum’s facade and interior, are now integrated into an open installation. They balance on top of, lean against, and pierce concrete structures reminiscent of various building fragments – a wall section, a portal, a pillar or a staircase. The marble’s smooth surface and carefully carved details contrast sharply with the rough-cast concrete. Past meets present in a sculpture that lies in the borderland between architecture and art."
Too bad that so many artists, architects and designers like to play with contrasts and find joy in jarring opposites. I much prefer when things are coherent and made to look nice and harmonious. The marble pieces surely could have been put to better use.

ReplyDeleteCP Victoria's top and skirt are looking easy to wear. Both outfits are coordinated perfectly together. It is true that Estelle looks more and more like her mother, but also like her grandmother Silvia when she was young.
Agreed on all points. Yes Princess Estelle looks very like her mother and the photos of Queen Silvia could easily be CP Victoria. They are incredibly alike.
DeleteThere are many comments made about dresses being too short, too young, too old etc but this is a perfect short dress for a young girl worn with trainers which are also perfect for a young girl.
I'm so thankful that Victoria allows Estelle to dress like a typical girl her age. She looks lovely. She has grown so much in the past year alone!
