King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima are paying a two-day state visit to the Czech Republic. Due to the political situation in the Netherlands, the King returned to the Netherlands after the first day of the state visit. Queen Máxima is completing the second day of the visit on her own, as planned.
On June 5, 2025, Queen Máxima, President Petr Pavel, and First Lady Eva Pavlová visited St. Salvator Church, where a new Liberty Bell was unveiled and blessed.
Later, Queen Máxima visited Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, a news organization based in Prague that focuses on regions where the media cannot operate freely or where freedom of expression is under threat. Afterwards, Queen Máxima, President Pavel, and Eva Pavlová visited the Charles Bridge (Karlův most) in Prague.
Nice green dress, wish it wasn't a high low hem. The first lady sure like her light blue, suits her colouring.

ردحذفThe green dress is ok, but that´s not a day dress. I think it looks out of place, and the hat is equally over the top. The blue pantsuit is a better choice but unfortunately doesn´t fit well. It´s too tight, too long and seems to be a material (cotton twill?) better suited for a more casual item like chinos.
ردحذفVanessa, no, the green dress isn't out of place, it is elegant, stylish and perfectly right for this event. The Czech First L.'s pantsuit doesn't fit her, the trousers are too tight, the whole outfit has no elegance.
حذفQueen Maxima is wearing the dress she wore on "Prinsjesdag" 2024 in Emmen (The Netherlands). I like the color and I read on one of the Dutch websites that the hat she is wearing is new. In the meantime I also read that the white hat she wore yesterday is designed by the British hat maker Philip Treacy.

ردحذفThe Charles bridge is a wonderful place to be. The views are spectacular and the adjacent buildings (and castle) and area are full of history. We spent a full half day walking and exploring there.

I love Maxima in green, but not in this dress. Something about the way it is cut seems to give the wearer a protruding tummy — even on the model! Sequins (if that is what they are; I’m not sure) only enhance this effect, unfortunately, besides being inappropriate for daywear.
ردحذفSo wunderschön die Königin Maxima, hier passt absolut alles und ist dem Anlass eine Huldigung. Bei der First Lady mag ich das blau das steht ihr sehr gut, allerdings hätte mir hier ein Kleid besser gefallen. Kleider wirken auf Bildern immer zeitloser und eleganter finde ich. Solche Bilder die also in die Geschichte eingehen, lassen den heute modischen Anzug später vielleicht nicht mehr so als Blickfang wirken. Meine Meinung. -Dorothe-

حذفNatan often uses quite stiff fabrics that show a certain plasticity in order to accentuate what the designer had in mind. These designs are quite often made without consideration for the wearer. this green dress is a good example for this: The dress probably looks better drawn on a piece of paper than on the real body of a woman. This is very evident on the model and to a lesser extent on Máxima.

ردحذفI really like this dress--it is very pretty and the Queen looks wonderful in it. I think with the high-low hemline it leans more to a cocktail-style as opposed to a daytime dress. But Queen Maxima often wears cocktail dresses in the daytime in my opinion. The dress has two design issues that I wish were redesigned--the pleating the waistline that creates a panel look. What it really does is create a layer of bulk. Speaking of the waistline--it needs to be straightened out and not have that peak right in the middle. Not sure really needed to wear a hat but she usually does so I am not surprised to see one--she might have felt it appropriate to cover her head because she would be in a cathedral. The First Lady is wearing a very pretty blue suit but the jacket is too tight. Perhaps she should have left it unbuttoned so it would look better. Still, the color is marvelous for her.

ردحذفWhether we like it or not Queen Maxima will continue to wear a hat on state visits, just like Queen Beatrix did it and the former Dutch queens did it before her.
