On June 6, 2025, Queen Mathilde visited the Princely Beguinage Ten Wijngaerde in Bruges, which is celebrating its 800th anniversary this year. In 1998, the Bruges beguinage was recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, along with 12 of the 26 beguinages in Flanders. The Queen visited the exhibition '800 Years of the Beguinage' and the priory’s orchard, which is being opened to the public for the first time.
The Princely Beguinage Ten Wijngaerde, with its white-washed facades and tranquil convent garden, was founded in 1245. This small piece of world heritage was once home to the beguines—emancipated laywomen who led pious and celibate lives. Life in the beguinage was lived in silence as much as possible. For centuries, the Bruges beguinage has been inhabited exclusively by women. Today, some nuns from the Order of Saint Benedict live there.
This is a very lovely dress, but I think it would look better without a belt!
ReplyDeleteExactly my thinking! - Oona
DeleteAt a quick first glance, I thought this was maxima, lol! This is definitely a Maxima-style of outfit from top to bottom, but Mathilde looks very good in it too. Not surprising considering they are very close friends and are very similar in many ways. I love this dress and the fabric pattern.

The dress is a rewear. Queen Maxima has practically the same dress (and hat). In Queen Maxima's dress the darker flowers are on the waistline. In Queen Mathilde's dress they are on the hemline. I expect critics on the hat, but I think Queen Mathilde doesn't care what others think or say about her. She is far too intelligent and has no time to take into account what some people are thinking of her.
DeleteMaybe there is similarity between Queen Mathilde and Queen Maxima, but they are also very different. They became friends when Queen Maxima was not married yet and lived in Brussels to be not far from The Netherlands but nobody knew in that period that she was going to be engaged to King Willem Alexander. They were both clients at the house of Natan and became friends with its designer Edouard Vermeulen. At that time Queen Paola was already client at Natan's too.
Je trouve cette robe jolie et féminine.
ReplyDeleteNéanmoins, elle est mieux mise en valeur sur la dernière image (lors d’une rencontre entre la reine et la feue reine Élisabeth).

ReplyDeleteA rewear, very good. Queen Maxima has exactly the same dress or did she gave it to Queen Mathilde?
ReplyDeleteTrès féminine cette robe que Mathilde a ressortie de son dressing ; belle couleur du chapeau/capeline que je trouve un peu envahissant !
ReplyDeleteOne of the few Natan dresses I like. The queen looks lovely in it.
ReplyDeleteQ. Maxima has this dress and I love it.
ReplyDeleteA stunning look. The dress is beautiful on Mathilde’s long figure and for once I don’t mind the thin belt she often wears (which doesn’t always work for her) as the flare of the skirt evens out the proportions. The hat is darling and coordinates beautifully. More hats, more tiaras, that’s what I’m here for! - Mary
ReplyDeleteI love this dress! I think it's beautiful and fits Queen Mathilde perfectly. The dress is so feminine and the floral design is lovely. I love that she chose to wear a large brim hat as it just adds to garden party demureness of the dress. Mathilde looks beautiful!

She has such a sweet and sincere expression. Not attention seeking, just engaging with people in a nice way. Lovely outfit. I don’t like hats, but this one is really nice.
ReplyDeleteIt's wonderful to see a rewear of this lovely, feminine dress. Love the choice of color of her accessories. Her hat looks divine! Her pearl earrings were a great choice, works in well with the dress. Splendid presentation.
ReplyDeleteEntirely agreed, Ava!
DeleteQueen Mathilde looks immaculately groomed.
What a stunning and classy lady she is!
It seems to me she has come out of a painting, her beauty is so delicate, almost unreal.
10/10 (and more)
