On June 11, 2025, H.R.H Princess Marie of Denmark attended the opening of the exhibition Tapisseries royales: French Savoir-Faire and Contemporary Danish Tapestries at the Grand Palais in Paris. In 2020, the New Carlsberg Foundation commissioned 16 tapestries to decorate Koldinghus, a historic Danish castle. The tapestries will be on display at the Grand Palais from June 20 to August 10, 2025.

The exhibition, which brings together Danish contemporary art and French tapestry craftsmanship, is the result of an eight-year collaboration between Danish artists Tal R, Kirstine Roepstorff, Alexander Tovborg, and Bjørn Nørgaard, and French weavers, supported by the New Carlsberg Foundation.

Being spoilt by a lot of Princess Marie content. Loving what she’s wearing. Hard to believe she was once an admin assistant and look at her now. Goes to show that we often get to demonstrate our potential when we’re offered the chance to (and that it can be very hard to prove it when kept small). She’s an asset to the royal family, and I love how Joachim and Marie have managed to go their own direction but maintain an excellent royal role too.

Yes, there are many current senior royals who came from humble, common, roots (instead of from aristocracy) and made a great go of it in their senior royal roles. Queen Mary of Denmark, Queen Letizia of Spain, Queen Maxima of The Netherlands and CP Mette Marit of Norway are just 4 who come to mind, but there are others. All credit to them for adjusting to, and being hugely successful in their new lives.

    3. Also the former Kate Middleton. And lets not forget Daniel Westling.
Isn't it wonderful that royals are allowed to marry for love nowadays and not for some tactical reasons like they did in old times!

Marie looks fabulous. I am also impressed by the black velvet dress worn by the other lady, very stylish and fitting for the event.

Totally agree. Look at the two ladies standing together. The French just know how to dress with style and quiet elegance. They never over accessorize - just perfection!

@ Anon. 00:14 "... who came frome humble, common roots".. Maxima does NOT come frome "humble, common roots" - she comes from an Argentinian upper class family. "Humble, common roots" is certainely true for Mette Marit of Norway or Letizia of Spain.

And Queen Maxima's mother is a Cerutti, also a family that made their fortune in the Italian fashion world (for men mainly).

We’ve seen Princess Marie wear this beautiful gown a few times over the decade. She looks as stunning in it now as she did in 2016.
I miss seeing Pss Marie now that they’ve moved to the US. They seem to have settled into their new lives without the drama that could have followed them if they’d wanted to. They both still represent Denmark with such dignity,I admire that about them.

Indeed, the Danish monarchy handled Joachim and Marie's situation incredibly well (with the exception of the title removal of their children) They gave them the support and space to flourish and be half-in/half-out. They had the foresight to recognize that these two could still be incredible assets to the monarchy and to work with them to that end. Not one punitive, retaliatory action with allowing the Danish press to try to destroy their reputations and constantly running negative stories. No removing security or other means. Just set them free and still allowed a line to having them support the monarchy. Well done.

Indeed. Though the press do like to stir up a headline,to their absolute credit,Joachim & Marie had the wherefore all not to feed into the narrative frenzy. They chose to go about their business quietly and respectfully. Joachim working as a defence attaché in firstly in Paris, then Washington DC,so still representing the crown and his country though in a slightly different role. It’s always so lovely to see Pss Marie promoting all things Danish in the US,as well as in Denmark. What a lovely and respectful couple they are. True ambassadors for Denmark.

@Anon 12:55: Very nice post and comments. Also, on his birthday just a few weeks ago, K.Frederik gave his two nephews a special gift, The Grand Cross of The Order of the Dannebrog, as further recognition of their place of honour within the Danish monarchy.
