The photo, taken last month at Tashichho Dzong by French photographer Stéphan Gladieu, features King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, Queen Jetsun Pema, and their children — Prince Jigme Namgyel, Prince Ugyen, and Princess Sonam Yangden.

Queen Jetsun Pema is a beauty. She always looks so serene, calm and demure. I wish her a Happy Birthday.
Both photos are delightfully bright and colourful, but the family photo is stunning. Two good looking parents and three adorable children.

    Great photo.
Some royal or celebrity families publicly commemorate their children's birthdays and celebrations by showing photos of the figure from behind, or just silhouettes of the children or all sorts of masked faces. It's ridiculous. Well, show, please a normal photo with a face, or show show nothing and keep everything private. Nobody forces them to publish any mention of their children.
So thanks to the Bhutanese royal family and the Prince of Wales family for showing really nice photos of the whole family.

It is not at all ridiculous to protect the child's face from the public. If you were more worldly, you would understand why. There is an absolute reason why children are protected in this way. This is not the forum to explain it in detail. Instead of saying nobody forces them to mention their children (with their faces obscured), look at it from the opposite perspective. No one is forcing you to look at pictures you don't like, and no one forcing you to comment about it. Each family needs to do what is best for them. It is not for us to judge.

I completely agree with you! The teasing is ridiculous. You rather want complete anonymity for your child or you don’t. If security is the issue, then with holding all any images would be the best option.

Love the bold colours the queen wears. The little princess is pretty in pink silk. The boys of course all look handsome in their outfits. Interesting boots on the boys.

Happy Birthday to beautiful Queen Jetsun Pema! Both photos are marvelous but the I love the family photo the most--what a wonderful photo of this good-looking family. The little princess is adorable and I love how her little legs are crossed at the ankle.

The first picture is an old picture of the queen from 2011. The family portrait is the one released on her birthday.
