On the evening of Tuesday, 24 June 2025, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima of the Netherlands hosted a formal dinner at Huis ten Bosch Palace in The Hague for NATO leaders, on the occasion of the NATO Summit taking place in the city. King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima, joined by Crown Princess Amalia, welcomed the guests at the palace. NATO leaders are holding a two-day summit on 24 and 25 June in The Hague.
What an attention seeker maxima is. The spot like should be on king and crown princess. Too exaggerating
ReplyDeleteWhy should the spot be on Amalia. She is not the queen yet, and the king and queen hosted the party. Not the Crown Princess…
DeleteWhat a stupid comment
DeleteI agree. I think she always over does it either with loud clothing or too many or weird accessories.
DeleteVery unfortunate because she is a pretty woman and would look so much nicer if she turned it down a notch.
Janet
I think the pathological narcissist and attention seeker there is not Máxima.
DeleteAgree, particularly in this setting.
DeleteOh my goodness she is the queen and has always worn bold colours, she is the hostess so she can be a bit more flamboyant than her guests. At least she poses nicely for the photo unlike Mr. T.
Deletecouldn't agree more. she shone like the sun. it wasn't a solar meeting.
DeleteShe will never change. ~Ruthie
DeleteWhat a ridiculous comment.
DeleteEveryone looks good. Amalia looks fantastic!!! Mom and Dad look proud.
I don’t see it as attention seeking. The king and queen are, after all, the hosts of the summit and Maxima is being a good hostess by being warm and welcoming.
DeleteThe Crown Princess is easing into the spotlight. This had to be a bit intimidating to her.
DeleteCinci
Much like your nasty comment.
DeleteShe is the queen of the country, and belongs right where she is.
DeleteI kind of agree with you Anon 22 : 30.
DeleteGiven the current state of world affairs this is an extremely important Summit.
It would have been better if Maxima had dressed to blend in rather than stand out.
Yesterday's outfit would have been perfect for today.
On a different note I find the lack of women in the group photo rather diappointing for this day and age.
Cate.
Everything to please Trump I read elsewhere !!
DeleteGive it rest dear. Maxima is the Queen of course she is allowed to take space. I don't see what you see of a few pictures. I see a warm, polite, welcoming and pleasant woman. Strange what negativity can tell us...
DeleteThinking that another one is seeking for attention
DeleteI don't agree at all. Yes, she has flair and this outfit fits like a glove, is flattering and she's one of the only in a colourful outfit. When you look at the group picture, you see all the women are wearing a different colour than blue, except one. One man even dares to wear a white suit, fabulous! It's because the rest of them are dressed very, very traditional (dare I say boring?) and because there are so little women, she stands out so much. And of course she should stand next to the king self assured, in a glamourous and powerful outfit. I believe this helps to break the severity of the gathering. I think WA is very proud of her, you can see it in the videos and pictures of the event. Amalia is wearing a wonderful dress too, sober but very elegant. Maybe Maxima even added a little extra oumpf to detract from Amalia's presence so she can learn in a more lowkey manner. Either way, she looks fabulous and she knows it :-) I wish we could see more women dress that way.

There are some disturbing comments here. Maxima is the hostess at a dinner. She is wearing a hostess outfit. I think it is a great choice. Suggesting she dress to "blend in" is a very antiquated statement. Maybe she should have stood in the back silently, knowing her place. Better yet, maybe she should have been in the kitchen preparing the food. This idea some have that there is an accepted color range and style a royal can wear and everything is inappropriate is ridiculous. Maxima is giving everyone a warm welcome in a troubled time and at a potentially stressful event.
DeleteMaybe she wanted to outshine Mr Trump's teeth.
DeleteEntirely agreed, @ Anonymous 9:26.
DeleteI would call these comments disturbing and disconnected from reality, too.
I suggest that those who think Queen Maxima is too prominent take a look at group photos of G20 or CHOG meetings or similar, featuring Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth. Always a beacon of colour among the suits and I don’t remember her getting criticised for it.
Delete@ Cinci
DeleteDutch people are not easily intimidated. It is not the first time that CP Amalia attend a gala diner, or banquet with several people. Don't forget that what you see on a few pictures is sometimes far from reality. I've seen pictures where she embraced with Mme Brigitte Macron and received a handkiss of President Emmanuel Macron.
Anon 05:35 Estonia, Island and Finland are the only NATO member countries with a female Head of State. Yes, it is disappointing that the world is still so male dominated.
DeleteMaxima shines, as always. She is generous and gracious and enjoys fashion. She is also the Queen, with every right and perhaps the obligation - in her Royal role - to be seen. The Queen of England - who we know deliberately wore bold single colours so that she was always seen - was never criticised for this and nor should Maxima be. She looks fabulous and brings a big welcome breath of fresh air to the conservatively dressed group.
DeleteNot appropriate to wear such a "look at me" dress at such an occasion. Manners includes the ability to know when to shine and when to fit in.
DeleteAnonymous25/6/25 09:26 you're not being a gracious hostess if your objective is to outshine your guests.
Delete@ Anon 14:09 Perfect comment. Agree 100% Maxima is, and does, exactly as she is supposed to.
Delete- Anon 9:13
Ladyofthemanor, only Island has at the moment a female president. Estonia's president is Alar Karis but the prime minister is female Kaja Kallas (in the group picture too). Finland's president is Alexander Stubb (in the group picture) but there has been a female president Tarja Halonen over 10 years ago. Also Finland's prime minister is a male, Petteri Orpo. I can imagine that one can be confused because some
Deletecounties are effusive by presidents and some by prime ministers.
I think that Queen Maxima looks beautiful in her jumpsuit and I like the cape too. She is the hostess and has permission to shine. Wonderful!
@ Anony. 09:26
DeleteI agree with you.
Queen Maxima did it just fine. She has the skills, speaks several languages, is used to an international public. Everything a perfect host can show to keep together this very unusual gathering of heads of states and prime ministers, etc... A lot of people haven't forgot what Mr T. said about Europe, that the Europeans have to take care of themselves in case of a serious conflict. Not to speak of all the rest he has been saying and doing lately. Taking this into account, I think it shows that Queen Maxima must have a good feeling for diplomacy and keep her "sang froid" in the company of all kind of leaders (even those who would prefer to be in the company of Mr. P.).
Agree with Anonymous 05:35, Cate. Well said!
DeleteMy mistake: Denmark, Estonia and Island
DeleteComme de coutume, la reine Maxima est magnifique.
ReplyDeleteSa tenue est féminine et semble seoir à sa morphologie.
Par ailleurs, la couleur est à l’image de cette reine : vive.
Cependant, j’estime que :
1- cette cape ou ce tissu supplémentaire au niveau des épaules est superflu ;
2- si le pantalon était droit et non aussi large, cette combinaison aurait été plus belle ;
-Astrid.
The CP of The Netherlands' name is Amalia not Amélia. Amélia is coming from the French name Amélie. CP Amalia is named after Amalia of Solms one of the ancestors of King Willem Alexander.
DeleteThank you 1216 I wondered about the origin of her name.
DeleteAbsolutely not, she is doing a GREAT job towards Mr Trump....everyone has to play its role
ReplyDeleteI wish we could see more of princess Amelia’s dress. What a wonderful opportunity for her to meet some key players in the world.
ReplyDeleteI agree, and I don’t think she would be intimidated as suggested above, she has been in the presence and meeting this type of people her whole life.
DeleteLove this jumpsuit for Maxima, especially worn with her her hair out (and styled!) The flowing diagonal lines suit her perfectly. Lyra
ReplyDeleteThat look of bursting maternal pride which Maxima gives Amalia in Photo 3 -- so heart-warming.Lyra
ReplyDeleteAgree !!
DeleteI like this dress on the Princess of Orange. I wish we could see a photo of her straight on.
ReplyDeleteT
Lorraine (Rose)
ReplyDeleteAlthough it’s not my favourite colour, Queen Maxima’s outfit looks fantastic, cape included and her looks good too. I would like a better view of Princess Amalia’s dress but her shoes are fabulous
ReplyDeleteIs it a jumpsuit? Having cape-sleeves is one thing, but then there are all those extra flaps in the front that just make it look messy. The jumpsuit fits beautifully, and if the sleeves weren't so fussy, the overall look would have been perfect.
ReplyDeleteWish we could have a better view of CP Amalia's dress. The side view with her tumbling tresses looks very nice.
- Anon 9:13
I love the lime green shade of flowing outfit for Queen Maxima. She stands out beautifully in the midst of dark suits and subtle colors. The King is sporting a rather rugged look. But he’s still good looking. CP Amalia looks lovely in a classic black gown (of what I can see) and gorgeous pumps.
ReplyDeleteMaxima is who she is. A lot can be said about this choice... the bold colour, the low cut, the wide leg, the sleeves. Fact is, she rocked this outfit.
ReplyDeleteCouldn't agree more; this royal family knows what it's (and should be) doing at moments like this
DeleteNo appropriate for the occasion.
DeleteThe daughter very much the better dressed here. She looks lovely and her behaviour is very modest and friendly!
ReplyDeleteTo 22.30h: Green is the colour of hope and most of all, peace.
ReplyDeleteAll the critics here are missing the point, the Queen was wearing the color of Ukraine!
ReplyDeleteLovely dress on Q M!
ReplyDelete@Odlaner 23:39 You are fully right and said it quite nicely. Maxima is as usual, why should she change.
ReplyDeleteMother and daughter surely consulted each other about colors, but I regret the choice of black for Amalia for various reasons for this occasion. It can be Amalia's own choice, but IMV this young lady could stand out a bit more with a lighter color. The dress style maybe cares for that, but we cannot really see it.
You can always consult the website of Ralph Lauren. Amalia's dress surely can be found there.
DeleteI think it is a navy dress instead of black.
DeleteCouleur vive très rafraîchissante chez Maxima - Amalia est parfaite dans cette robe qui épouse à merveille sa sihouette mais peut-être qu'elle est légèrement trop longue !
ReplyDeletePelosi has a plastic face but dresses sensational.
ReplyDeleteI know who you think may be Nancy Pelosi, the lady in the blue but that is not Nancy Pelosi, she is much more attractive and prettier than this lady!
DeleteI concur. Definitely not Nancy Pelosi.
DeleteThe Queen , Princess Amalia and Mrs Van der Leyen look spectacular.
ReplyDeleteI( want to) forgot the rest😉😸
* forget the rest
Delete* von der Leyen
ReplyDelete@Anon 8:11 What we are missing here then is an Enormous Blue hat to complete the look!
ReplyDeleteQueen Maxima's jumpsuit looks very flattering on her and her hair beautifully styled. The color of her jumpsuit is very eye-catching - you can not miss her in the group photo, - but why not wear something colorful? Yes, something more conservative would have suited better the event but tbh all the war news are so stressful anyway, so it is refreshing to see a beautiful queen representing her country and hosting such an event, and looking so elegant and stylish.
ReplyDeleteThe Crown Princess Amelia looks also very lovely and so good to see her attending more royal events.
- Marika -
I like that she stood out in the group photo, she was not part of the summit, but the hostess. If she had been a participant I am sure she would have worn business attire.
DeleteMr. T doesn't know when he has to close his mouth and when he has to stand still for the photographer to take a picture.
ReplyDeleteHe doesn’t know a lot of things and unfortunately many people will suffer.
DeleteAlso: kudos to the one man who dared to wear a white/grey/beige suit instead of a blue one. I don't know who he is but fashionwise I applaud him! I wish more men would dare to wear something different than an average blue suit in moments like these. It is a safe choice but I wonder what the comments would be if Maxima wore the same blue dress for a whole year during these events... Just a thought :-)

He looks very nice here. I understand and commend his choice to dress more in line with the troops bravely defending Ukraine. His show of solidarity with the troops has gotten him criticized by a few, but his heart is with his country, not with appearances. Once this terrible war is finally over, I would expect to see him dressing in a more presidential manner if he is still the president. I hope the Japanese people were not offended by the way he dressed. It is my impression that he is a very genuine man.
DeleteYes maybe not appropriate in our eyes, but he said while his country was at war, he would not dress up, but wear fatigues to show solidarity with his soldiers.
DeleteI feel like Maxima's "look at me" dress was beautiful, but inappropriate for the occasion.
ReplyDeleteLadyofthemanor 13:52: Only Iceland has a female President, not Estonia nor Finland.

Both of the royal ladies look lovely. A little less cape would have been my preference but Q. Maxima looked great. CP Amalia looked appropriate and mostly engaged. She's growing her future role nicely.
