Zara Tindall has been leading the styling charts this week! The blue dress on day one was stunning and she wore it beautifully. This pantsuit it striking and her personality is the cherry on top. MR

Oh, I so agree with you MR! Zara has an edge to her choices, and often a bit more personal than the other parts of the family, maybe because they have more "rigid" roles as well.... I must however say that I do not think I have ever seen Eugenie this beautiful, she looks mature and very calm.

Big surprise for me: Eugenie looks terrific in this outfit, it is pure understated elegance, I love it, everything in, on and with it, hat, ponytail and all. Last time she looked that good was her wedding. Sarah F.: this time no knee display, but a too tight belt - something is always too tight on her. - The greatest disappointment, one that I cannot unsee (not shown by Helen): The king kisses the hand of Sarah Ferguson. For me: no explanation ("Ascot fun") is good enough for that, I think it was a fully superfluous and for me, unexcusable move from a/the King.

Anon 20:14, I’m confused re your worries about Charles; I think I’ve misunderstood you. Charles is being chivalrous to Sarah his (effective) sister-in-law. He also kissed the hand of his niece Eugenie in one photo. And probably his other family members. I think it delightful, happy and loving.

And you are surprised by the two of them? Please! Birds of a feather........how quickly we forget.

    3. I agree with your comment but he kissed the hand of Eugenie and I think the only think he could do was to kiss Sarah's hand too..

Why would this be bad form on Charles' part? He is being a gentleman. I find it charming, and there are things about Charles I am not so fond of. He can come across as a very stuffy person, but here I see a very loving and human side to him.

@Anon 22:01, no need to be confused, just accept my sentiments. Eugenie, being Sarah's daughter, is decidedly not = Sarah. And Sarah, married to Andrew or not, might be a really nice person but considering all her actions/behaviour, the reverence/respect/chivalry shown by a hand-kiss is not really appropriate in this case. Acceptance as being part of the family yes, more than that not even in fun.

As Supreme Governor of the Church of England, I'd say the King is showing good Christian values which, last time I checked, once you've atoned for your sins and are forgiven you don't get perpetually judged based on them.

@7:08 Who are you to say what is appropriate? You are singling out Sarah's past behavior and forgetting Charles previous behavior and the subsequent fallout from it, not to mention Andrew's scandalous exploits. If anything, the two princes were brought up knowing how they should behave and certainly how to avoid scandal. Sarah did not benefit from the same upbringing, but had to learn as she went along. We have seen time and time again that royal life is difficult on the ones who marry into it. Sarah is accepted by the BRF, including the late Queen. That should be enough for you and everyone else.

Much better today especially Fergie. Eugenie, one of her better looks, love her shoes. Zara, the only issue I have is the cut of the jacket, same as when worn by all the other royals, is it highlighting the tummy and zipper. The queen looks lovely in white.

I agree with everything that you have written.
Unfortunately Zara looks like she should have put on some Spanx
before leaving home. Her most disappointing outfit this week, imho.

Another fantastic day of people watching (via photos!). My winner for today is Charles in his pale pink and grey ensemble, and seeing him interact with his nieces. Zara seems to have gotten her outfit absolutely perfect. Cannot believe the harmony of her hat with her hairstyle and hair colouring and divine light blue suit. Fun to see everyone’s outfits and imagining the stamina it takes to show up 4 days running! Wondering how much standing around and champagne drinking goes on (I certainly wouldn’t manage 4 days running!).

Ha ha thanks Deadeggs. There are some decidedly judgemental comments here today re Charles not being allowed to kiss the hand of his relatives and someone else saying the beautiful joyful Zara needs Spanx, and here’s you suggesting we go have fun and enjoy it. That is surely what it’s all about! Wonderful!

  6. The camera hasn’t been very kind to the Duchess of York in photos N°8 and N°9 (last two photos).
And the deep neckline is not doing her any favours.
I’ve always admired the Duchess’ wonderful resourcefulness to come up smiling no matter how much the critics push her down and pull her to bits.
Bravo chère Fergie. Show them what a real duchess is made of 😁

As least Fergies hemline is more appropriate than that awful one she wore at the beginning of the week.

I'm alive and well but for a while now my life’s been overloaded with family commitments plus the ubiquitous two hot meals a day with veggies etc; Oh and the dusting, well that’s another story.
And there’s a limit to what you can do with frozen food, you know.
When there’s a spare moment I check-in on Newmyroyals to scan the photos that dear Helen so generously provides.
I’m enjoying this year's summer fashions, especially Ascot week, with its bright colours, light fabrics.and from time to time a quirky design touch.
Our oftentime ‘pop of colour’ advice hasn’t been needed lately.
Again thanks Helen. And thanks Cate for thinking of me. 😍

  10. Love Princess Eugenie’s look today, in spite of the muted colour palette. Her shoes are gorgeous. Queen Camilla looks much better today back to her standard earlier in the week. The Duchess of York is much better too. My first disappointment with Zara this week. The colour is lovely but to me a trouser suit is for formal meetings and Ascot needs something more glamourous. It’s been a great week. 😊

I agree, AnnieM — Zara’s trouser suit was a disappointment; it did not comport with the Ascot style we’re accustomed to. The color was good on her, and the jacket too — a skirt would have completed the look properly, imo.

King Charles with that cheeky pink vest, Camilla in a floaty white dress, Eugenie looking unusually sophisticated, Sarah a tad messy, an improvement nonetheless,
    what an eventful day!!!

  15. Zara's, pale blue pantsuit, looks exceptionally lovely, her accessories, are a good color. Her earrings are elegant. Sophie Winkleman, looks superb, I love this Navy and white dress, very stylish and elegant. Her pearl earrings are gorgeous, wonderful size. The Queen's white dress, this is my favorite of all the dresses she has worn the last few days. The embroidery at the shoulder line and hem, lovely addition. Her jewelry, lovely choices.

No, I don't like this. I don't like the other baby colours on other men either. Vest's are light yellow, light blue and light pink. If they must wear a vest during summer, I prefer a darker colour for men, or a vest in the same fabric as the rest of the outfit.

Anonymous @20:14, why are you disappointed? Do you think that a King should be rude and treat his sister in law poorly by ignoring her? I don’t think that Charles has the same sense of higher moral rectitude that you seem to practice. I am intrigued that a person so far removed from this family would have such judgmental attitude.

@Anon 08:25, please note: I was not talking about "ignoring" Sarah or being "rude" to her. This is your interpretation. As for judging: we do nothing else here than judging, sometimes what these persons wear and sometimes something else. Royals present themselves in public not without a purpose, it is not a private family affair - this is why, of course, what they do and how and to whom counts for the public. What Charles does privately is none of my business, what he does in public is shown in order to be perceived (and with that, is free to be judged upon... what else). Just accept differing opinions as I do with yours .

I’m wondering if Eugenie has hired a stylist. The last few times we’ve seen her,she has looked stupendous! This simple yet elegant ensemble is a standout look. I love the jacket style top worn over the dress. The hat and muted accessories are a winner.
Zara has 💯 been the clear fashion winner this week. Talk about bringing your A game!
I read Sarah DoY has had this dress in her closet since before her wedding to Andrew. So she was giving Anne a run for her money in the who has the oldest dress in their closet.
Camilla always looks nice in white. Set against her tan,she looks lovely.
Lady Sophie,I wish we saw more of her,she comes across as such a lovely and genuine person. She stood true to Beulah. The navy and white/cream is such a classic and elegant look.
It’s been a fun week at Ascot.Definitely some fashion winners. Thank you Hellen for your hard work over the five days.

Something or someone has transformed Eugenie here (as so many have noted in the comments)! She is perfection, head to toe — and long may it continue! Camilla, also, transformed in a subtler way — her floaty chiffon dress with its delicate detailing such a delightful change from the heavy, stodgy fabric that so many of her go-to outfits encase her in. I usually dislike her in white, but this dress is an exception. As for Sarah, Duchess of York, the poor thing is a major hot mess and needs help.

  22. Every one dumps on poor Sarah ,Duchess of York , give the woman a break. She doesn't have tons of money and has paid for her past. If King Charles wishes to greet her by kissing her hand, that is his business. She still is a family member. Princess Eugenie has never looked better, almost did not recognise her. Once again Zara Tindall wins the fashion stakes, she has been the winner all week

You (and others) misunderstand almost everything I wrote about that handkiss being not appropriate. That S.F. is a family member - that her missteps (and I don't really mean toe sucking, there was much worse than that) are excused: yes, OK. I would not wish her expelled for good (as Prince Philip, a real gentleman, very much felt like this). -- But: kissing the hand of a woman does have a special additional/deeper/older meaning of reverence, which elevates it above other means of greeting or welcoming. I saw Charles to kiss the hands of Diana and also of her mother. SF is simply not on that level of - yes, reverence. If you all want to ignore this difference, fine with me. But don't suggest implications I did not write.

  23. Princess Eugenie has grown into a beautiful young woman. I am not talking about her outfit so much as her presentation, she is beautifully groomed. We all have hits and misses when it comes to fashion. Today in my opinion she has a hit.

Zara Tindall has always been interesting too, again hits and misses, but all in all a lovely sense of style because she has fun with fashion, her nature comes through.
