Empress Masako Carries Out First Silkworm Cocoon Harvest of 2025

Empress Masako carried out the first cocoon harvest at the Momijiyama Imperial Sericulture

On Friday, June 13, 2025 (Reiwa 7), Empress Masako carried out the first cocoon harvest at the Momijiyama Imperial Sericulture Facility within the Imperial Palace. Imperial sericulture has been passed down through successive empresses since 1871. During the hatsumayukaki—the first harvest of the year—the Empress carefully removed the cocoons from their frames. Some of the silk is scheduled to be offered to the Ise Jingu Shrine.

I like this more relaxed style we’re seeing from Japan’s RF. HM’s look is proof you can look smart with a hint of casual.
    Lowri.
