The KU Leuven research team is currently monitoring a significant number of children in Belgium and the Netherlands. These children regularly undergo clinical and psychological assessments to determine whether their development aligns with that of their peers. Queen Mathilde has followed the progress of this research project since its inception.

Queen Mathilde in her ikat skirt she has since 2022. The top is different than the other red one she wore today for the Opening session of the Queen Elisabeth Piano Competition. When you look at the red tops she wore with the ikat skirt in the past, you can see she has at least 3 or 4 different red tops. I don't know which skirt looks better. I think they are equally beautiful. I also like Queen Mathilde's hair lately. Could it be the work of that new hair dresser, who works for the Royal Family in Laeken since the beginning of this year (he became fournisseur de la cour).

That's a great observation! Queen Mathilde clearly enjoys styling her ikat skirt in different ways, and it's impressive how she can make the same piece look fresh with different red tops. It shows her attention to detail and her thoughtful approach to fashion. As for her hair—yes, it has looked especially polished and elegant lately. If the new hairdresser at Laeken is indeed behind the change, they’re doing an excellent job. It’s always interesting to see how subtle changes in styling can enhance her overall appearance.

This red on Mathilde is gorgeous, as are the red shoes, and the pattern of the skirt material is lush. I wonder if it would have looked even better for her to have worn the red top untucked, to balance out the high waist a little . - Mary

This may be a nice outfit on others, but the Queen doesn't have the proper proportions to wear this high waisted skirt. I like the softer, longer hairstyle, but she looks tired in one of the photos - or maybe just bored. I think she looks better in one piece straight sheath dresses . Go back and do the comparison.

    1. I agree with you. I was surprised at so many positive comments. The outfit is nice but not the best style for the Queen’s high waisted figure. The same was true of the other lovely skirt and top outfit yesterday. A great outfit but not the most flattering.

You can say anything on Queen Mathilde but she is certainly not bored. She always has a great interest in everything she hears and see during her visits. She always has supported this particular research project of cancer during pregnancy from the start. When she has a serious face (pic. 5) because she is listening carefully to a speech of one of the researchers, you think she looks tired. She cannot always have a smile on her face.

Anon 12.43 Absolutely—you're right to highlight that. Queen Mathilde is known for her deep engagement and genuine interest during her visits, especially in causes close to her heart like cancer research during pregnancy. A serious or focused expression, like in photo 5, shouldn't be mistaken for boredom or fatigue—it often reflects empathy and attentiveness, especially in emotionally significant contexts. It's important to recognize the nuance in these public moments. Her consistent commitment over the years speaks louder than any single expression caught in a photo.

Crystal clear No from me, as clear as the Yes was for that glorious red dress the other day. That one was as if especially created for her figure, this one against it.

Queen Mathilde looked indeed very good in the Safiyaa dress. But that is a dress she probably will rewear on other more formal events. The skirts and blouses she is wearing here are more her every day business look.

Again another beautiful blouse and skirt combination. Queen Mathilde looks wonderful again--very beautiful in red. I also love this much softer hairstyle she's been wearing for several months now--it's very flattering on her.

Gee I thought this looked very nice and the proportions were good. I don’t see it the same as some of the above comments. I like clothes that have a bit of movement, and pumps even pointy toes. It opens up the foot and doesn’t cut a persons height.

Q Mathilde looks very nice today. Great colors. But more important is the cause for this event. Cancer and Pregnancy. She supports great and important causes. Good for her.

  9. For me the problem with this outfit is that the top is tucked into the skirt. If it were a short jacket or something like that it would look better, I think.
