On May 20, 2025, Japanese Princess Kako paid a working visit to Gifu Prefecture. The Princess visited the World Freshwater Aquarium (Aquatotto Gifu) in Kawashima Kasada-cho, Kakamigahara City. This inland facility, opened on July 14, 2004, is the largest freshwater aquarium in Japan. It houses approximately 220 species of animals and around 30 species of plants. Later, the Princess visited the Gifu Wood Playhouse in Gifu City.
During her visit to Gifu Prefecture, Princess Kako wore a sleeveless printed blouse and matching culottes from Leilian, a Japanese clothing brand. The outfit originally belonged to her older sister, Mako, and was passed down to her as a keepsake. Mako (then Princess Mako) had worn the outfit during her working visit to Bhutan in 2017.
I thought I remembered this outfit from Princess Mako ! Maybe it is not the only outfit Mako passed down to Princess Kako. It is very becoming, though culottes are not always the easiest piece to wear. Lovely shades of blue, enhanced by matching earrings. I just wonder if a lighter color would not have been a better choice for the jacket and the shoes, more summery maybe. Quite a success anymway, I think.

This is fun! Youthful and summery. Love the fabric of the dress. Culottes are not my favourite but the outfit look great especially when she stands still. I first thought it was a maxi dress Pretty little jacket that we have seen before.
ReplyDeleteWell said. It always amazes me to see the precision of pattern placement so the two sides align perfectly.
DeleteShe looks wonderful and youthfull and very expressive for a Japanese royal !!
ReplyDeleteI've tried but I cannot like this. The only thing I like in this outfit is the navy jacket. I don't like the color of the trousers, nor do I like the pattern in the pants.
ReplyDeleteNot my favorite. Her smile is always appreciated.

This is superb I think, rewearing her sister’s clothes. Also, the indigo dye is wonderful and the cut very elegant and refreshingly different. For all the times we see very conservative (according to our own standards) Japanese royal dressing, this is an excellent departure, fresh and so pretty. - Mary
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh! This is cutest overload in these adorable pics of Princess Kako. Love her jumpsuit or pants (I can't tell). Goes perfect with a classic short jacket. She'll have the Japanese ancestors rolling over with this outfit. lol Good for her!!!
ReplyDeleteAnother delightful visit. She is happy, engaging and enthusiastic. What a great asset she is. She looks lovely, I like the Navy color.
ReplyDeleteWell.done Princess Kako for not following all the strict rules placed upon fashion for the JRF ladies. She looks stylish, youthful, a little trendy but elegant. Mary
ReplyDeleteTrès joliment vêtue la princesse. Elle devrait inspirer sa cousine.
