On May 21, 2025, Princess Benedikte of Denmark presented the 2025 Elsass Foundation Research Prize to Italian researcher and professor Andrea Guzzetta during a ceremony held at the Elsass Foundation in Charlottenlund. Professor Guzzetta was honored for his groundbreaking research in the early diagnosis of cerebral palsy (CP) and his strong commitment to improving the lives of children affected by the condition.

Prior to the award presentation, the Elsass Foundation hosted a well-attended international mini symposium on early diagnosis and intervention in CP, featuring researchers and professionals from Denmark and around the world, both in person and online. Professor Guzzetta served as the keynote speaker.

A pediatrician specializing in neurology and psychiatry at the University of Pisa, Professor Guzzetta leads the SMILE Lab (Stella Maris Infant Lab for Early Intervention). His work includes the development of clinical techniques to assess visual function and movement disorders in infants, enabling earlier and more accurate diagnoses of CP in high-risk children.

In recognition of his contributions, Professor Guzzetta received the 2025 Elsass Foundation Research Prize, which carries a monetary award of 1 million Danish kroner. The prize is awarded biennially to a researcher who has made an outstanding impact in the field of cerebral palsy.
