On May 28, 2025, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima hosted a lunch at Noordeinde Palace for 28 Dutch citizens who have distinguished themselves through exceptional achievements. The guests were recognized for receiving awards or honors in a wide range of fields, including arts and culture, media, science, sports, and business.
Among this year’s attendees were world and European champion athletes; recipients of the Machiavelli and Anne Vondeling Prizes; the Teachers of the Year in primary and vocational education; the 2025 Agricultural Entrepreneur of the Year; the winner of the 2024 Christiaan Huygens Science Award, Jan-Willem van Ittersum; the winner of the 2024 Buma Cultuur Pop Award, Roxy Dekker; and the winner of the 2024 Zilveren Camera award, Remko de Waal.
For this special occasion, the Queen wore an olive green tweed jacket by Chanel. Queen Máxima (then a princess) first wore this jacket 17 years ago, in 2008, when she attended the opening of a cultural center in the town of Lintelo.
It’s nice to see Maxima in green, which she doesn’t often wear. In the right shade, green is a great color on her.
ReplyDeleteIt seems to be her favourite colour
DeleteCette veste Chanel en tweed vert olive lui va à merveille surtout portée avec un pantalon ; j'adore le boutonnage sur le devant ainsi que dans le dos !
ReplyDeleteThis jacket is an insult for womanly forms with its ridiculous breast-flattening pockets and senseless protuberances on the shoulders. Go away jacket and never come again. Quickly, before our jacket-loving Duchess of Edinburgh notices and buys you, to be combined with a wide-wide long skirt.
ReplyDeleteShe looks lovely. Pocket flaps on the upper jacket are a no for me, but the jacket is very nice.
ReplyDeleteIMV, these two shades of green are not in harmony.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree. But I love that Maxima incorporates re-wears. Just wish it wasn't this one.
DeleteIt's fantastic that Máxima is re- wearing so much clothes from the past. She is a real example for all people to buy less and invest more in quality clothes to contribute to sustainability.
ReplyDeleteRe looking I see more clearly the odd shoulders. The back flap with those buttons are not adding anything. What I do like is the colour. It does seem a bit tight.
ReplyDeleteLove this jacket, she looks great.
ReplyDeleteShe is usually dressed (overdressed) to her teeth at most functions but when inviting guests to lunch she wears an ill-fitting jacket and pants. I would expect my hostess to make a better effort if I was the guest.
ReplyDeleteI would feel the opposite - honoured to be invited to the palace, with a queen dressed less flashily given that we’re at home with her. I think she looks marvellous in this outfit in any case, and very approachable. You have very high expectations of your hostesses, whereas I’m thrilled they saw fit to invite me and feel grateful for however they choose to show up in their own home.

DeleteYou as her guest?
Don't worry, the chance is slim.
