King Charles and Queen Camilla are undertaking a royal visit to Ottawa, Canada, from May 26 to 27, 2025. This marks King Charles’s first visit to Canada as Sovereign. On May 26, 2025, King Charles and Queen Camilla arrived at Ottawa Airport, where they were welcomed by Prime Minister Carney, his wife Diana Fox Carney, and Governor General Mary Simon.
Queen Camilla wore a pale pink ensemble by British designer Anna Valentine, accessorized with a diamond maple leaf brooch. The Canadian Maple Leaf Brooch, crafted by Asprey in platinum and diamonds, was gifted to Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother, by King George VI during their 1939 state visit to Canada. Shaped like a sugar maple leaf—the national emblem—it was first worn publicly during their Atlantic crossing.
In 2002, Queen Elizabeth II inherited the brooch and continued its legacy, loaning it to the Duchess of Cornwall and later to the Duchess of Cambridge for their Canadian tours. She most recently wore it in an official portrait marking Canada’s 150th anniversary.
Queen Camilla also wore the Asprey Button Pendant Necklace. The 167 Button Pendant from Asprey London features a central amethyst stone surrounded by pavé diamonds, all set in 18ct white gold. The 167 Button Pendant was first launched in 2004 as part of a signature collection. Its design is inspired by buttons found on old English garments.
Later, the King and Queen participated in a ceremonial tree planting at Rideau Hall, the official residence of the Governor General of Canada. They then attended a community event at Lansdowne Park, which showcased Canada’s rich cultural heritage and diversity.
I am not being rude, but her eyebrows are shaded too dark for her complexion, along with the makeup application, makes her appear older somehow. The rest of her outfit is ok.
ReplyDeleteMy thoughts as well it looks very greasy. It is the trend but she should stick to her more natural look which is more becoming as we age.
DeleteTo @Anon 02:29, "her more natural look": the natural look in Camilla's (and my) age is a kind of noncolour on very little substance (brow). So one has to enhance the "natural look" in order not to look ghastly. I agree that it could be a little bit lighter - difficult to do with black, but just go to a shop and try to buy grey brow colour instead of brown, mission impossible. Because: brown, also: "dark blonde", which is basically brown too, is absolutely not fitting for older women who long lost their "brownness". Grey is perfect. So much about naturalness :-))
DeleteThe queen always looks lovely in pink. She should lighten up on the dark penciled in eyebrows, far to heavy for her features. Mary Simon looks lovely in her native dress and beautiful silver hair.

DeleteI agree with Anon. 040:11. We all have to evolve. The only time I am wearing a hat is during winter against the rain or against the cold. The rest of the year I do not see the necessity of wearing a hat.
Hats are usually worn for formal State visits. This is not a formal one. It's more like a quick drop-in and more low key. The reason they are here is to deliver the throne speech when our parliament opens on May 27th since we are a commonwealth country. That's basically it and then they're gone.

OK, the brooch was from previous queens, but you can't make this scene on every trip to Canada... And now I expect more brooches already worn, etc… Irene
ReplyDeleteWhat a nonsense. Why should we make up - becoming of age. She looks good and I am sure she feels good. This is what counts I think the soft pink softens her look.
ReplyDeleteI don't know what you see as nonsense. I didn't comment about her eyebrows above, bit I did notice that they were a little too dark for her. The color is harsh and stands out instead of being the frame of her face, as they are referred as. This isn't the first time they have been drawn on in too dark a shade.

ReplyDeleteMary Simon is not wearing native dress. She is wearing a white pantsuit in the ninth picture. The lady in picture ten, wearing First Nation attire is not Mary Simon . Mary Simon is Inuit not First Nation btw.
The Maple leaf brooch is beautiful, but imo not showing up well against the pale pink of the dress. Not a fan of the dress.
ReplyDeleteI love the cream dress on the Queen . The pink she should wear better undergarments, that go higher up, so there is no bulge showing, why don’t her dressers help her on this? Her dresses are so nice on her and this lets the outfit down.
