On May 26, King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of Belgium attended the first performance of the finals of the 21st Queen Elisabeth Piano Competition, held at the Brussels Centre for Fine Arts. On that day, finalists Yuki Yoshimi and Nathalia Milstein performed. From Monday, May 26 to Saturday, May 31, the twelve finalists will perform at the Brussels Centre for Fine Arts with the Brussels Philharmonic, conducted by Kazushi Ono.
Natan Couture Embellished Cape Gown
Good job she had the under dress made higher !
ReplyDeleteWhat lovely look. I like the whole outfit.

Its Natan but I like it. She is such a lovely looking woman.
ReplyDeleteAgain negative about Natan, while QM wears probably 70% Natan and I see in this blog lots of enthousiastic reactions on her fashion. I think she looks wonderful in this gala dress

DeleteIt is unbelievable but last year with the state visit to France Queen Mathilde received plenty of bad comments for this dress. Less than a year later the comments are much better. Maybe there are a lot of new commenters on this blog too.
Maybe 70% of Natan outfits is a bit optimistic. She surely wears Natan pieces for the typical Belgian events :
a) during the Queen Elisabeth music competition and
b) for the 21st July which is the Belgian national day.
On other events like state visits she usually chooses other designers like Dior for France, Costarellos for Greece, the vietnamese national dress for a visit to Vietnam, coton dresses with typical Congolese pattern made by Odile Jacobs an African designer living in Brussels, etc... She also wears dresses by famous British designers and brands like Jenny Packham, Safiyaa .... Queen Mathilde's dressing room is full with beautiful outfits. Some of them are pretty old, but she wears them anyway.
Anon 15.25, Queen Mathilde is known for being both diplomatic and thoughtful in her fashion choices, balancing national pride with cultural sensitivity. Her willingness to rewear older pieces also shows a commitment to sustainability. The shift in public or blog commentary, from criticism during the France state visit to praise now, could possibly be a shift in commenters 🤷🏻♀️
DeleteBeautiful dress and cape for this occasion
ReplyDeleteQueen Mathilde is wearing the white cape dress she wore for the first time last year in October during the state visit to France. The cape is made in a fabric containing transparant crystals. She is wearing the same accessories too : a silver clutch, shoes recovered with white satin, diamond earrings..... just her hair is different. It was in an updo last year (last picture on the left). I think I prefer the updo with this dress. Well Queen Mathilde has a busy week with all the finals she has to listen to. We will probably see other beautiful evening gowns and jewelry this week.
ReplyDeleteYes, it's the same elegant cape dress from last October's France visit—crystal detailing, silver clutch, satin shoes, and all. The only change is her hair, and I agree, the updo worked slightly better with this look. With a full week of finals ahead, we can definitely expect more beautiful evening gowns and jewelry to come!
DeleteWow! I love it very much!
-Astrid.
Wait ... this is like overly glitzy negligée, no form, no structure, no design at all. Looks like "Mathilde wrapped up by Christo".
ReplyDeleteBut still elegant and classy !
DeleteMaybe it is my screen but the fabric looks like bubble wrap. Helena
ReplyDeleteIf so, it keeps her warm, it’s chilly in Brussels.
DeletePerhaps it is liked better for this event because she is not standing next to someone in a more structured outfit. As stated above this dress would not of been appropriate in its original design, so the addition of the top makes it wearable.
ReplyDeleteI spoke too quickly the bad commenters are still here.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful gown. Christine
ReplyDeleteThis gown suits her beautifully. She looks divine. Her hair looks so lovely, maybe a tad longer, softly styled, very becoming. I love the long earrings with this outfit.
ReplyDeleteQM looks radiant !
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous outfit on the Queen.
ReplyDeleteI like it,but the slanting top the overlay gives the look of a downward angle around the chest area. If the top had been a tad higher, then a strapless bra could have given it a more uplifted look.
ReplyDeleteLowri.
Queen in bubble wrap?
ReplyDeleteThis is a better choice than the tight fitting peach jumpsuit. Beautiful soft hairstyle.
