On May 27, 2025, Queen Mathilde of Belgium visited the exhibition Khorós by Berlinde De Bruyckere at the Centre for Fine Arts (Bozar) in Brussels. The word Khorós (χορός) refers to the singers and dancers in Greek tragedies. In this exhibition, Berlinde De Bruyckere integrates creations by other artists. It features works by, among others, Lucas Cranach the Elder, Peter Buggenhout, Patti Smith, and Pier Paolo Pasolini.
Bozar presents a major solo exhibition of the work of Berlinde De Bruyckere (b. 1964, Ghent) for the first time. Humanity and the condition humaine are at the heart of her compelling oeuvre. De Bruyckere draws inspiration from various sources: Christian iconography, classical mythology, Flemish masters, and cultural lore.

La reine semble fatiguée. Le poids des responsabilités … Beaucoup de courage a elle.
ReplyDeleteJe la trouve sobre et élégante. Le blanc est toujours une bonne option (à quelques exceptions près).

Mathilde looks fantastic. White/cream is always her colour, but when combined with a beautifully simple and well cut top and pants while highlighting her lovely long legs, it becomes an exercise of casual elegance.

Queen Mathilde's white combination of top and trousers is a rewear of May 2021. Since then she wore it at least once a year. This time her accessories are light grey shoes and a new clutch. Her earrings are by Gas bijoux. I think this combination is still wonderful and appropriate to visit an exhibition.
ReplyDeleteThe exhibition takes place on the same spot as the Final Sessions of the Queen Elisabeth competition for Piano being the Palais des Beaux Arts (Bozar) in Brussels. This evening she is normally present for the second final session of the competition. I am curious she will change her clothes.
The top hangs on her as if it came from a Caritas charity shop and the size does not really fit. But: Mathilde's wonderful long legs save the outfit.
ReplyDeleteL'association du haut avec ce pantalon à la belle coupe convient à merveille à la silhouette de Mathilde ; je la préfère avec les cheveux relevés !
ReplyDeleteWhite is a lovely colour for the queen. The side seam coming from under the arm to the front on an angle, I don’t understand. Sure it gives a visual line, but it doesn’t make sense. Sometimes this design house comes up with some really unusual ideas, perhaps avant garde, I don’t know what. Every once in a while they create something pleasing. Always a surprise.
ReplyDeleteYes just when Natan gets the material right and soft, they go and apply a crazy design that changes the garment from beautiful to strange. I do not understand this fashion house! Mathilde looks great here but the top sits poorly due to the front/side seams. Why Natan?
DeleteJ'ai remarqué moi aussi cette couture en biais vraiment laide car très visible (elle plisse même le tissu). C'est dommage car ça gâche une jolie tunique. La reine est toujours très bien avec du blanc, ça lui va à la perfection. Paloma.
DeleteOh wow! this outfit looks smashing. Her ensemble suits her beautifully. The pants are perfect, she has long legs and this suits her so well. The top is just the right length. Love her earrings, gorgeous presentation.
