On May 27, Queen Mary visited WWF Denmark’s nature project at Knudshoved Odde in Vordingborg. At the end of May 2023, WWF Denmark released 600 specimens of the spotted Glanville fritillary butterfly at Knudshoved Odde. On Tuesday, Queen Mary, patron of WWF Denmark, visited the project site to closely observe the current status of the butterflies. The Glanville fritillary is a butterfly species in the Nymphalidae family.

Once widespread across much of the country, the Marsh Fritillary (Euphydryas aurinia) has now almost completely disappeared from Zealand. In recent years, WWF Denmark has released several hundred Marsh Fritillary butterflies into Knudsskov at Knudshoved Odde and has been working on breeding them while also restoring the surrounding natural habitat.

Knudshoved Odde is a slender, 15-kilometer-long peninsula extending westward from southern Zealand. The area, known as Knudshoved, is primarily overland. The sea and coastal zones serve as important habitats, bird protection areas, and form part of a Ramsar site—an internationally protected wetland nature reserve.

Really fit for the occasion! Máxima would wear a ridiculous hat and high heels with some over the top necklace or earrings.

Well, Maxima also knows how to put on hiking clothes and boots when she’s out in the forest… but yes might still have some big jewellery! As for her hats, I love hats on any of the royals and think more is better. - Mary

Maxima dresses down when the occasion calls for it. This is about Mary, not Maxima. Your comment didn't need to be made.
