On January 11, 2025, Prince Hans-Adam II of Liechtenstein, accompanied by Hereditary Prince Alois and Hereditary Princess Sophie, hosted a reception for the diplomatic corps, as well as notable figures from politics, administration, and business, to mark the New Year. Parliament President Albert Frick was among the attendees. The traditional New Year’s reception took place at Vaduz Castle in Liechtenstein.
Picture 5 shows the outfit best. It is a perfect fit, length and colour on the princess. I like how she wore her string of pearls. I also like the colour coordination on the princes’ tie.
ردحذفFrom my point of view, the princess's attire is very, if not too, simple for the occasion, compared to some of her guests.
ردحذفYes, it's appropriate to show simplicity, because it's also a form of elegance.
But it's also important not to be so simple as to become banal.
As far as I'm concerned, I have high expectations of the royals' style of dress.
They alone represent a country. What's more, they have colossal sums of money at their disposal to buy the very best clothes from top designers.
I'm often a little disappointed to see how little effort some royals seem to put into their clothes. Some are content with the bare minimum.
Yes to simplicity. Yes also to sophistication. To originality. To haute couture. To innovation in collars, sleeves, designs, etc.
In short, I have high expectations of the royals.
And, in all honesty, there aren't many who meet those expectations.

But Astrid, Lichtenstein is not a country, just a tiny principality. This area of the world is very understated, and we don’t show off about money. Simple elegance is very normal, especially mid winter and we wouldn’t want more. We can’t judge all people by one standard because the nuances of culture make us different and that makes the world much more interesting. Less is very much more here in the mountains!

It is interesting to me to see the castle interior in the background of these pictures. The rooms look smaller, darker, and less ornate than I would have guessed. The tapestries on the wall look interesting.

The castle is medieval with small rooms. As long as the Habsburg Empire existed the princes of Liechtenstein lived in Vienna, Austria (where the emperor also lived) in a magnificent palace (Baroque style if I remember correctly). They still own the palace which now is a museum containing the family's art collection. When the Habsburg Empire collapsed after WWI, the Liechtenstein family moved to the old castle in the L. principality (the present place). This is approximately what happened. I do not remember it better.

Ces deux dames sont là pour travailler, elles font partie du personnel (elles ont des tabliers blancs). Et je pense donc que leur rôle est très utile et que les princes et princesses sont bien contents d'avoir des tas de gens pour faire leur ménage, leur servir des repas, faire la vaisselle, arranger les jardins, entretenir le linge, etc. Il est vrai que le petit personnel est souvent invisible et rarement pris en photo, et surtout rarement valorisé, hélas.

حذفI think Princess Sophie is dressed very simply and elegantly. The color is perfect for her and the fit is excellent. She looks lovely. Because the gentlemen are wearing business attire that leaves the ladies so real latitude in their attire--most likely something like dressy daywear. Her choice of simple but elegant pearls is perfect.
