On January 15, 2025, the Duchess of Edinburgh visited Community Shop in Lambeth, South London. Community Shop is an award-winning social enterprise, helping tens of thousands of families across the UK to live better. The Community store offers food and household products from well-known brands at deeply discounted prices and also a hub and kitchen where children can eat free throughout the school holidays.
Plain and simply put, Sophie looks lovely here.

Each piece by itself is nice but together not so much. But at least we see her again.

The Duchess of Edinburgh looks really lovely here. I like the jacket and the shoes, the sweater is fine. Not keen on the green skirt--from what little I can see of it. Good to see her again.
ReplyDeleteLe pull aubergine ? s'intègre très bien dans l'association de la jupe verte et du manteau blanc cassé !
ReplyDeleteToujours aussi ravissante

Yes we know she has a certain nonchalance with the length, in most cases something or everything is too long. But the coat is really lovely in its softness and the D. of E. is getting more beautiful and charming by the day.
ReplyDeleteYou are right.
DeleteShe is getting more beautiful and charming by the day.
What's inside her heart shines through just like a bad heart makes a woman look ugly and grumpy.
She looks nice, but a brighter colour for the coat would make the look less pale
ReplyDeleteBelle femme. Elle est tout aussi magnifique avec les cheveux lâchés.
ReplyDelete-Astrid.
I was cautiously optimistic about Sophie’s outfit until I saw the green skirt and teal (I think) purse. Sophie is lovely, but she seems to have challenges putting different colors together in a way that looks coordinated for an outfit.

Yes, she does struggle to put a cohesive outfit together.
DeleteI enjoy her colour combinations, much more so than current mono-colour trends eg Charlene all in beige. I do think that the photos don’t always show well the colour hues so the clash can seem more in the photos here than the vibrancy we may have seen if we’d been there in person. Someone once challenged me to move from black work heels to aubergine, dark greens, etc and so I’ve kept this idea going on why not step away from all colours needing to match to how about hues sitting well together that others might not be thinking to combine. Maybe Sophie had the same advice!
Delete@ Royal Watcher.
DeleteI agree with you. Sophie is not good with clothes and accessories coordination. The teal bag for example looks really wrong here.
I often wknder if she actually has a stylist.
If not Lady Louise is at an age where she should be able to help mum out.
@Cate I agree with you. I have also thought Louise would be a good resource for her.
DeleteHappy Birthday! Sie is a wonderful lady.
ReplyDeleteEach item is great...separately. A truly confusing outfit overall. What happened to the Sophie of 2012? She was a fashion rockstar back then with her reinvention. And now, it's like she doesn't even care.
ReplyDeleteI had hoped the new year swept in new lengths for Sophie, but sadly that’s not the case. The skirt can be seen sitting below her ankle, and that with the heeled ankle boots. The colors are nice.but they’re struggling to come together. The color of the coat washes her out. It’s a no for this outfit.
ReplyDeleteIt’s hard to believe Sophie turns 60 on Monday. She’s looking far younger than her age.
Lowri.
As you mention Sophie's birthday on January 20th, reminds me that Stephanie of Monaco will turn 60 on February 1st. Yes, Sophie does look young for her age.
DeleteLovely Sophie--she looks fabulous! OK--I would have chosen a different color skirt--a forest green would have been great here. Her coat is beautiful and I love the aubergine sweater--both look marvelous on her. I hope some new professional photos are released to celebrate her 60th birthday on the 20th.
ReplyDeleteHandbag color clashes with the skirt. Too many colors introduced . Love the coat, but that is about it. Skirt is way too long . Not a very polished look.
ReplyDeleteEn sådan affärskedja borde finnas i Sverige, vi har så många fattiga människor i vårt land!
ReplyDeleteI am attempting somewhat cautiously on a "commeting comeback", after I got roasted all over about the L.A. fire appearance of the Sussexes. I like the Duchess of Edinburgh very, very much. But lately I got the feeling that she is on an odd streak fashionwise. This outfit looks like she had put it together in a dimmed room without mirror and light before leaving her home. I mean, each on their own are beautiful pieces, no doubt, but in combination not so much.
ReplyDeleteWelcome back! It's nice to see you.
DeleteDSC, I was very sad to see you attacked; but my protests that your opinion is your opinion and well expressed were deleted. I dropped my name and went anonymous after being highly criticised some months ago; it’s an awful feeling.
DeleteThank you for welcoming me back! I'm happy to comment - focussed solely on fashion/jewels/etc. now, I shall hope - again.
DeleteYes, good idea DSC: If you can try to reserve your judgement to clothing and fashion rather than the character of people, it will be a better experience for all involved.
DeleteAnon14:05 No need to pick at me again!
DeleteI am the same hight as Sophie and feel midaxi dresses/skirts really drown me, in particular if they are flare (pencil skirts are slightly better). The same happens here. A few inches off the hemline would make the overall look so much better imo.
ReplyDeleteOnto colours… clearly she likes colour blocking, which can backfire if colours are (seemingly) randomly selected. The skirt and the top colours don’t work together at all. Imagine how nice and harmonious the look would have been if she had selected a white top to match her coat for example. Anyway, not her best look, nonetheless nice to see Sophie back to what she does well.
