On January 16, 2025, King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of Belgium hosted the annual New Year's reception for the heads of the European institutions based in Brussels, as well as the permanent representatives accredited to the European Union. The reception took place at the Royal Palace in Brussels. At the New Year's reception, Belgium's Queen Mathilde opted for a metallic floral jacquard midi dress by Dries Van Noten.

ردحذفNormally I like it when Queen Mathilde is wearing a dress by Dries Van Noten. This time however, I think the pattern of the fabric is a bit too old for Queen Mathilde. I prefer her in a bright solid colors. Contrary to the other receptions this one took place again at the Royal Palace in Brussels instead of the Castle of Laeken. Probably due to the big number of participants (pictures seen on another site) one decided this reception should take place at the palace where the reception rooms are bigger.

ردحذفI think this dress suits her figure splendidly. Often with high waisted dresses Mathilde wears a thin belt but I now see that de-emphasising her high waist is wonderful, lovely without a belt, showing her silhouette to its best advantage. The blue is lovely for her skin and hair colouring too!

ردحذفAh yes, you’re right there. It’s ALSO the lack of big skirt that makes this so flattering! The softer drapier material is more flattering than the Natan materials for her figure (at least for the skirt component).

ردحذفI love her hair soft and at this length. Often she wears her hair much more voluminously and I don’t think it suits her nearly as well as this more natural softer style. Above all I’m very pro people wearing the hair they enjoy and couldn’t think to criticise someone for their own choice in how they wear their own hair. (Afterall, once it’s cut, she can’t exactly relengthen it except through waiting?!).
حذفJust wondering what is the perfect length for a woman's hair? Catherine, Letizia, Mary etc. having "too long hair". Now Mathilde having "too short hair"... I'm confused because I think that her hair looks good. These queens and princesses are not paper dolls, they are human beens with the hair they like to have.

حذفHer hair is longer than before. She can make updo's now without using false hair in her neck. What you see is hair which is quickly styled by someone of her staff who is not her hairdresser. When the queen's hair is brushed more straight it looks longer, when it is brushed like now towards the outside and with curls it looks shorter.
Nice look for Mathilde, for me a bit too many flowers.

This is a really lovely dress, gorgeous. Love the style and the color combination. The dress fits well. Her shoe color is good, it picks up the grey of her dress. Very pretty and lovely look. Her hair looks soft and appealing, not so severe, I love it.
