Today, on May 17, Norway celebrates Constitution Day with children's parades. Crown Prince family's celebration started at their home, Skaugum Estate in Asker. Crown Prince Haakon, Crown Princess Mette-Marit and Princess Ingrid Alexandra wore their national costumes and afterwards, they welcomed the traditional children's parade.
Thereafter, in Oslo, King Harald, Queen Sonja, Crown Prince Haakon, Crown Princess Mette-Marit and Princess Ingrid Alexandra greeted the children's parade and the crowd from the balcony of the Royal Palace. This tradition was established in 1906 by King Haakon and Queen Maud, and has been upheld every year since, except in 1910 due to the death of Queen Maud's father and during World War II.

Anon 20.31, not comparing to Spain but to my understanding in Spain there was a military parade in connection to the celebration involving the king wearing his military uniform aswell. Was there a military parade in Norway aswell? Maybe there are more pictures to be seen.

حذف@ Achard62, I very much assume she wears the uniform of the Norwegian army? One would not think that? 😁 No offence, joke impendet. I would say it is the fomal uniform of her batallion, the Engineer Battalion. At least that is what the batch on her jacket indicates. The batch on her beret, I do not know. Until now, I believe we saw her only in her combat uniform.

حذفNorway doesn't do military parade. Norway’s 17th of May is a party for everyone, especially children. Children’s parades take place across the country, as marching school bands lead processions through local communities, small villages and big cities. After the parade there is speeches, we play games, eat hot dogs and a lot and lot of ice cream.
حذفA recruits name is always their last named, so since Ingrid doesn't have a last name the army chose to use her middle name which is Alexandra. So she is called recruit Alexandra.

ردحذف@ Elisa. It is possible she started her training in the Army but afterwards she can also have to do a training in the Navy and/or the Air Force. Just like Princess Leonor from Spain does. After all the young European princesses will be General in Chief of the Forces of their country or whatever the grades are called once they become queen. It is not always the same in every European country. Also the fact of wearing a uniform or not. On National days in some countries the King is wearing his uniform. When Denmark was on State visit in Norway the men were already wearing uniforms upon arrival. In other countries it is not always like that. For the State Banquet a gala uniform is often worn. I think it is a custom from the old days that became tradition. In the old days the kings wore their uniform from the moment they came out through the door of their castle.
