On May 17, 2024, The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh attended a special service held by the Church of Scotland during their visit to Edinburgh. The service named The Ceremony of the Keys was held at the Palace of Holyroodhouse to mark the start of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland. The guard of honour, Balaklava Company, 5th Battalion, the Royal Regiment of Scotland marched during the ceremony.

حذفFrom what I understand of the description on the designer’s site, the basic fabric has been worked to form diamond shaped blisters on its surface.
I feel the skirt is fighting hard to be a crinoline but has been cut short in its efforts.
A brighter colour would go well against the grey and sombre skies of Edinburgh.
A good choice for the ceremony, otherwise it doesn’t get my vote for a re-wear.
The skirt has too much volume in it which makes Sophie look bigger than she probably is.
ردحذفOh no ! What a bad combination on Duchess Sophie. It makes her look boxy. The skirt is like a balloon. The jacket is lovely but not with this skirt. I love the color. The little handbag is very elegant. Suzannah is a brand that rarely makes something I like, the same for Erdem.

ردحذفOh no! THis looks heavy on Sophie 😮 The fabric is so stiff and the skirt so bulky. I looked the ensemble up on the Suzannah London website and it is clear that this design would only fit a size zero model with a tiny waist.
ردحذفI think that's the problem with fashion nowadays that it's made for those 6 feet superthin models. And that we are so accustomed to seeing dresses worn by very abnormal bodies that we find everything else "massive" or "bulky" etc.

The colour is lovely
ردحذفand looks great on Sophie and I like the idea of a short jacket with the full skirt. Sadly the skirt is too long and too wide so there’s just too much material making her look huge. It’s the hottest day of the year in much of Scotland today so I would think she’ll be sweltering.

I like the concept, the colour is great but it is not the best look on her. Very ‘50’ s vibe which I like. Would it look better on Queen Maxima? Again the case of supporting a brand of the country rather than wear what suits best.
ردحذفThe proportions of this skirt and jacket are not flattering together. I’m not sure they would look right even on a very tall woman. The green color is nice, however.

حذفGorgeous color but the fabric is too stiff. I really can't think of anyone who could carry off fabric this stiff--its almost like fabric used for chairs or sofas. Had this outfit been made from a different type of fabric--and with less of a bell shaped skirt--this could have been a gorgeous suit. I hope to see Sophie in this color again but, unless she has the skirt completely redesigned, not in this outfit.

The jacket and skirt outline is fabulous. I don't like the fabric, only because the skirt has so much added bulk, and the fabric looks stiff, making Sophie look bigger than what she is. The small bag is beautiful and I love the color of her shoes.

This is a miss. The color is lovely,but the balloon skirt does nothing at all for her.If anything it makes her look heavier than she actually is.
