  1. CP Kiko looks lovely on both occasions. What did catch my eye is the beautiful blue gown, gorgeous as is the red dresses in the background, lovely ensembles.

Same, I was just going to comment this same exact thing. The blue gown is, indeed, beautiful.

Oooh, that second dress is fantastic! Great cut and pattern for Kiko and probably as "modern" as it gets. The red dress is a bit too 80s for me, though the shade and the square neckline are quite interesting.

I absolutely agree! Love that 2nd dress, just gorgeous (and fits so much better).

I like the 2nd dress but hate the old-fashioned black shoes.

Fantastic to see this move away from the ultra conservative style of the Japanese royal ladies. I like both dresses, especially the second one with the knife pleated skirt. Lovely

  5. I love her smile in that last picture. She often looks very buttoned up in Japan. It's nice to see her able to relax a bit. I like the dresses, too.

Oh I love the black and white dress! Quite different for the Japanese royal house, but in a very good way.

Whether you like CP Kiko's dresses or not one thing is for sure, when she is in Japan visiting all kind of events I never saw pictures where she is wearing dresses like that. It is a nice change. Maybe one day she will be considered as the princess who influenced the fashion style at the imperial court. I wish her a lot of luck : it will not be easy to influence the Japanese imperial "fashion police". Rose

Japanese royal ladies don't wear nice shoes. Their shoes are in the grandmother's style: especially the round toe makes that impression. I understand that they want to feel comfortable, and high pumps - like those worn by Princess Kate or Queen Letizia - do not provide comfort. But I found my way. I found that it is essential for a sexy impression that the shoes have a sharp point. The leg looks slimmer then and the heel doesn't have to be high in this case.

    1. Why does she need to look sexy? It's not her job to titillate us. I might add that gentlemen manage to look good without wearing shoes like that. Let's change our standards! I am grateful that she is not setting a bad example for young women by wearing outrageously painful shoes.

In the Sixties and Seventies nobody wore or wanted pointed shoes. There is only imagined, not real beauty advantage of any kind in wearing pointed high heels. Fashion changes are driven by commerce, nothing else. (GM)

I was young in the sixties and we always wore pointed shoes. The heels were not very high then, at least the shoes I wore, but there were friends of mine who wore very high heels because they wished to be taller. In the beginning of the Sixtees I wore kitten heels with the pointed shoes. At the end of the Sixtees the pointed shoes disappeared and the high heels became block heels, to match the mini-skirts and shorts. The same phenomena we see today. Rose

Shoes in the 60s did indeed have a pointed toe until the end of the decade. The advantage to a pointed toe is to elongate the leg. Rounded toe shoes end the foot in a stump. It isn't as elegant looking, and I don't mean that in a sexual way. Higher heels create a more beautiful curve to the leg than lower heels. As for comfort, well made shoes can be comfortable even if they have a pointed toe or a higher heel. With cheap shoes, don't expect too much. As with many things, you get what you pay for.

The first dress is nice but it seems too big in the sleeves and top. It would look better if it was a bit more fitted.
The second dress is wonderful! Very elegant and it looks cool.

These two dresses are very pretty at least a bit of color not always just pastel. I like the tan pump as well. css
