On December 1, Queen Maxima attended the event 'Meet the world, make the change' on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of Nuffic, the organization for internationalization in education. The event took place at The Hague University of Applied Sciences in The Hague.
Queen Maxima attended the plenary opening of the jubilee celebration, and then discussed the importance of internationalization with students, and professionals from the field and Nuffic employees, in the presence of Titia Bredee, director of Nuffic. Afterwards, the Queen attended the workshop 'Working with your international skillset'.
OSCAR DE LA RENTA floral brocade long coat
I've loved this colourful de la Renta coat every time Maxima has worn it and I love it today too. The green dress beneath it is the right colour and seems to have a lower neckline, giving an edgy contrast with the need for a coat. Love it.

I've always liked this coat on Q. Max. It fits well and the colours are so cheerful. I prefer it worn with less vibrant colours like the softer green boots and scarf from a previous outing. Here I think the bright green - dress, shoes, hat - competes and makes a less harmonious ensemble. (V.M.)

ردحذفWhy she gets it into her head to wear a hat to some of these events which are not so formal is beyond me. Basically it is so out of date in the Netherlands that I am wondering if everyone knows it is a hat especially todays example. It could be confused with a hip bread basket or something you put the cats toys in. Other than her hat I like what she is wearing. She is very tall so no one would miss her or not know she is the queen, unlike Princess Beatrix or Queen Elizabeth II who were very small and needed the hats so everyone knew where the queen was. Her shoes tone with the coat bu jar a bit with the different green of the dress.
ردحذفWearing of hats is often a protocol issue, depending on wether a visit is in her capacity as queen, an official visit, a working visit, a casual visit or a visit in her capacity as a special envoy from the UN. I often prefer her hatted. She’s got a good hat head and she can hide that hair in the hat.
حذفI read somewhere that since the monarch in the Netherlands never wears a crown, Beatrix had "designed" her hair style and her well known hats to resemble a crown.

حذفWhere I live we are having some low winter temperatures and I find that a bonnet or some type of head covering helps to keep me warm.
I’ve loved the coat on every occasion she has worn it and I have the same feelings this time.
Plus, it suits her personality.
Nalerina, i agree with you. It is ridiculous to wear a hat to occasions like this. It is not protocol. It is just Maxima behaving like a child and playing fancy dressing. She has no feeling for this kind of things and obviously no one dares to tell her or she is just not listening.
