    9. Well, should you mean that she is not a Queen Regnant than you are of course right. However, she has exact the same status as Queen Mathilde (present for this event), Queen Rania (present for this event), Queen Maxima, Queen Sonja, Queen Silvia, who are all Queen Consorts, but no one calls them so. The same applies for Queen Camilla. The word "consort" will be dropped rather sooner than later, is my guess.

    10. Well Anonymous 17:08, whether you like it or not, she definitely is, and a very good and dedicated one! Chosen by the king and the late queen. Hardworking and with class and respect she deserves every bit of privilege that goes with it.

    11. I get the impression that a lot of people still idealize Diana very much. Everyone is only human, everyone makes mistakes. Diana wasn't perfect either. No one has the right to force someone to love. It just doesn't make sense. The love of Charles's life is Camilla.

    12. I may not care for her. The facts are that she had an affair with a married man. Yes, I know he did too, but this blog is not about him. So personally I think her morals are awful. But he is married to her now and he is the king now so yes that makes her a queen whether you like it or not does not change that fact.

    14. Strange comment, Anon 17 08. Especially since it’s demonstrably false. I rather like the title of Queen Consort and hope it sticks. Reminds me of Albert, Prince Consort.

She's not using a nickname this time or pinching another person's nickname.

    17. Camilla has arrived at this position due to the fact that she and Charles stepped outside of their marriages, and Charles was never fully committed to his marriage in the first place. Diana was used for little more than a broodmare. The entire situation was tragic due to interference in the beginning. If Charles had been able to marry Camilla from the start, we wouldn't be having this discussion now and two boys would not have suffered the loss of their mother so publicly and tragically. No matter what Camilla is, the simple fact remains that a chain of events happened because of their affair and that does stay with people. Some can leave it in the past, others can't do that as easily. I know Diana was no saint, that goes without saying. The question is whether or not the actions of Charles and Camilla caused Diana's actions. Had her marriage been happy, would she have behaved differently? I tend to think she would have. At the risk of sounding crass, Camilla is seen by some as a textbook example of someone who slept her way to the top. I think she has worked very hard to support Charles and the family. I think she has proven herself worthy of being at Charles side. As for her title, Queen Consort is a higher title than she thought she would have, so she probably doesn't mind being called that, plus it is accurate. Queen Elizabeth is a hard act to follow. I think Camilla is smart enough to understand that.

@Anon 19:49 - not trying to defend Camilla or Charles but their behaviour did not make Diana do anything - she was an adult woman who made choices. What I always find interesting is that she famously talked about there being 3 people in her marriage and yet she was the 3rd person in at least 2 marriages and an engagement. Given she knew the pain involved you would think she might have been a little more empathetic. The truth is good people can do bad things - the wonderful thing about people is how very complex we are.

  2. The very elegant First Lady of Sierra Leone wins hands down for me! Would love to get a closer look at her gorgeous outfit and headwear. Not a fan of the one sided ruffle on Mathilde's dress and Rania's dress is interesting with the stripes and colors. That shade of purple looks very good on Mary. The other outfits are quite nice if a bit ordinary. MD

  3. Mary looks terrific in deep purple—and her spontaneous laugh in the picture is lovely. I also like Sophie’s romantic ruffled blouse—it suits her kind and reserved affect. Rania’s dress graphic is trying too hard and just looks awkward.

  7. Mathilde wins top spot for me, this lovely dress suits her in elegant white with the double ruffle on one shoulder to add interest. She is dressed suitably for a reception in a palace.
Mary’s look is good, but she is dressed too casually, even compared to the other ladies wearing pants.
While Rania is known for odd and sometimes asymmetrical geographic patterns in her clothing, this one reminds me of a tape measure or a sketch of a road map, and the main color is too dark and somber, not at all becoming.
Camilla needed to wear light colored pumps or flats, the black boots clash horribly with the white dress.
Sophie looks good, semi-formal but not too formal for a day event, with a little pizzazz. S.M.

  8. Be a part of it. It´s about women over 50 close to 60 who are so in touch with their sexuality. But they don´t need men to define them and they are in control talkshow host and TV producer - show for housewifes not wallflowers.

  9. Strange outfits like that of Sophie Wessex, Olena S. (She looks like a governess), Q. Mathilde or Rania of Jordan. Camilla, however, looks elegant.

  10. Definitely a range of individual, smart-casual styles here. No two are the same or even similar, which is a good thing. I also agree that the First Lady of Sierra Leone adds elegance and regality with her colourful traditional dress and head covering. She is an attractive woman with good posture.
I liked Sophie's top and also the scalloped neckline of Camilla's dress, through my face dropped when I saw Camillas choice of footwear. She must have a personal reason for wearing those boots indoors, but her overall look would have much elevated with a simple pair of cream pumps, or those two-toned ones she often favours.
Happy to see the representation for this important cause. Let's see where this gathering takes it to from here, and how.
    - Anon 9:13

PS Are cream/white and purple symbolic to the cause? Just wondering. I also read that GD Maria Teresa of Luxembourg was supposed to attend but cancelled at the last minute due to an unexpected family situation

  13. Camilla´s white dress is very nice and the details are very feminine. Queen Mathilde needs better underwear. Call me old-fashioned but I do not think tweed pants are the right choice for a reception even if they are nice.

  15. I like QC Camilla’s dress, but agree that the overall look would be improved by wearing pumps instead of boots. It’s a mystery why she continues to wear these boots indoors. Of the others, Q. Mathilde, Q. Rania and the Sierra Leone representative all stand out for their flattering and interesting choices. C.Sophie looks nice too but I think the blouse sleeves are too long. CPMary’s outfit is flattering but seems too casual for the event. (V.M.)

  17. Very important event. So nice to see three Queens one CPss a Css and two First ladies, side by side. Both Q in white dresses, only the black booth I would have left in the Closet. Q Rania looks lovely as always so Mary and Sophie; The First lady of Sierra Leon looked very nice. Mrs Zelensky of the Ukraine nice suit but a bit too strict IMO of course. I hope this meeting has been successful. Only time will tell. css

  18. Was there an agreement to wear cream? If so it brought together three great outfits, though, like others, I wish the Queen Consort wasn’t wearing black boots. Like CP Mary’s purple blouse. Madame Zelensky’s outfit seems both very formal and rather old fashioned compared to the others though it’s a nice colour.

  19. The Queen seems to be a lovely woman. Her dress is appropriate but I wish she forgot about the boots which do very little for her, especially in formal occasions like this. Queen Mathilde’s dress looks like Nathan though not one of the most offensive creations thereof. Crown Princess Mary can do so much better.

On the fashion side, they all look elegant. Mathilde wins the day IMO , closely followed by Camilla and Rania. I am not a fan of Mary ans Sophie’s outfits. Mary’s pants are more appropriate for an outdoor event than a cocktail reception.

      OMG can it be true?
Maybe her six aristocratic “Queen’s Companions” (ex ladies-in-waiting) could hold her down and drag those boots off her otherwise she'll be wearing them to the coronation.

I love the Countess of Wessex's blouse. Camilla has on a lovely white dress; and what? black boots you have got to be kidding. I didn't realise how tall Queen Mathilde is ;I like her dress. It is interesting none of those ladies are Royal in their own right; they should have invited Princess Victoria. It is interesting why should Camilla get the prize as Queen a woman who would not go away; like a dog with a bone(Tabby)
