The Countess of Wessex is visiting the Democratic Republic of the Congo at the request of the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office. On the second day of her visit to Congo, the Countess visited the Panzi Hospital, a specialist hospital working for those who have endured conflict-related sexual violence. The Countess met with the Panzi foundation’s founder and medical director, Dr Denis Mukwege.

Then, the Countess visited the Panzi Foundation, accompanied by Nobel Peace Prize laureate Dr Denis Mukwege. The Foundation uses a holistic approach to help survivors of conflict-related sexual violence rebuild their lives and bring their abusers to justice. The Countess met with women in a textile skills workshop.

Afterwards, The Countess of Wessex visited City of Joy, a transformational V-Day programme that supports survivors and helps equip them with the skills and confidence to take on leadership roles in their communities.

Merveilleuse Sophie ; on ne peut être qu’émue devant sa spontanétié ; pour parler de mode, je crois avoir déjà vu ce modèle fleuri qui convient bien sous ce climat mais elle a dû porter d’incontournables chaussures qui ne l’avantage pas au niveau de la longueur de la robe ; très rafraîchissant quand même !
