@Fitzhugh, a lot of people were there for the Queen wearing more appropriate mourning dresses. And Reina Sofia is celebrated as the epitome of grace and propriety by the Spanish media. Hence it is not unusual to wonder why she wore a glittery dress to the funeral of her cousin-in-law.

Kate opted for the same necklace and earring combination that she wore just over a year ago for the Duke of Edinburgh's funeral. I know it’s not the time for fashion, but Kate’s outfit - especially the birdcage veil is so flattering on her.

I don't like small children to be dressed in black, Even for funerals, it feels wrong. And I know I am outnumbered but that hat is way too old for little Charlotte. Kate or the nanny or whomever dressed her should have put a simple dark mourning band in her hair.

That style of hat is very popular and common among young British school girls as part of their school uniform, so I don't see a problem with Charlotte wearing that shape and style of hat, whether it is for a funeral or otherwise. Little girls all across the UK wear that style of hat, usually in pale coloured straw with some ribbons attached to the crown of the hat.

Charlotte has always seemed more in tune with her surroundings when out in public, as opposed to the more shy/reserved nature of George. Perhaps she WANTED to wear black & a hat like the ladies. Mia Tindall & the Phillips sisters wore black, but they of course had black headbands, not hats. I think Charlotte looked just fine for this momentous once-in-a-lifetime occasion. *Regina

    4. I thought the cape dress was lovely, but hated the hat. I hated it as much when it was white and she wore it for the Jubilee (same hat/diff color). I also think she needed one additional detail - a necklace or brooch, perhaps. But, as she was away from home, and didn't have access to most of her things, what was she to do? Perhaps if she'd been on better terms with her in-laws, someone might have lent her something.

The ladies were all dressed appropriately and handsomely, but there can only be one queen - I mean queen of style - and that is Catherine, Princess of Wales. Perfection. Beautiful coat dress, great hairdo. I have to praise the perfect makeup - light and fresh. Some of the royal ladies had too much makeup - especially around the eyes, I'm surprised it didn't smudge with tears.
And even if it does not concern fashion, Catherine has excellently raised children. George and Charlotte behaved sweetly and impeccably.

Sophie's coat (coat dress?) was so amazing, but unfortunately most pictures didn't show the detail enough. Where do you trump up such nonsence from. Lady Louise had a dress on with short sleeves and a fairly low neckline. Apparenly you fid that OK. You must have been at your wits end to find something unpleasant to comment on. Really she had about 15 cm pf bare arm showing. This is 2022 remember.

This is still a fashion blog. When someone said Meghan was showing to much arms, you may say that she was not the only one. This has nothing to do with fashion or dress codes for funerals or religion, but with respect and decency. Every common human being with a bit of education knows that you don't go to a funeral like that. Even not in 2022. I went to a funeral myself during the same period that Queen Elizabeth passed away. The dress code was not even black, but every participant at the civil ceremony (the ceremony was not held in church) was dressed in darker or subdued colors, there was not any woman with naked arms or a low neckline.

What say you about Lady Louise, all knowing and wise arbiter of *state* funerals? I believe Lady Louise has had an excellent education thus far, debunking the theory that "Every common human being with a bit of education knows that you don't go to a funeral like that." She is also a member of the royal family, so she has the best guidance in what is appropriate to wear by experts in this area. Her dress was low cut with shorter sleeves. It was also more casual in nature. How do you compare the two dresses? How did Louise show more "respect and decency" with her dress than Meghan did?
Boris Johnson's wife, Carrie, is being called out for wearing a "low cut" dress, yet she had long sleeves. Louise's dress appears to dip lower than Carrie's does. I really would love your thoughts. I am of the school that nothing scandalous was showing, shoulders were covered in the church, all were in black, and most importantly, they were all there to pay their respects to a beloved woman.

      حذف
    2. غير معرف23/9/22 05:36

There is nothing wrong with Meghans dress or Lady Louise for that matter. Stop this bs. They both dressed respectly and decent every human being not filled with hate sees that. I have been to a lot of funerals in my life and people have dressed from everything like a suit, modest dresses and shortsleeved top/dresses and low neckline. I have even seen people in a nice pair of jeans. I have, never ever in my life heard that wearing showing your arm was disrespect. I and the rest must have missed that memo...

      حذف
    3. غير معرف23/9/22 07:53

In my country women don't go to funerals with a low neckline especially not when the funeral ceremony is held in a church. That is all I can say. I never said I was an expert in state funerals and I do not hate anyone.
As this is a fashion blog I'm entitled to give you my opinion about how some participants at Queen Elisabeth's funeral are dressed. Since I didn't saw pictures of all the participants (like Boris Johnson's wife) I just said something about the pictures I saw.
But on this blog there are too much people who are not reasonable. One cannot give an opinion on how the members of the British royal family are dressed or one's words are twisted or they call you a hater, etc...

      حذف
  34. غير معرف23/9/22 16:17

The first argument was that Meghan was showing too much arm. Now we have moved onto low necklines? Let's stop nit picking and remember why they were there. No one went there to be disrespectful.
