On June 11, 2022, Queen Sonja of Norway opened the new National Museum in Oslo. The opening ceremony took place in front of the National Museum, and King Harald, Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit were also present to mark the opening of the Nordic region's largest art museum. The new National Museum brings together older and modern art, architecture, design, and crafts under one roof.

Beautiful Valentino repeat from CP M-M! I do like Queen Sonja's suit--its a lovely blue. But, that necklace is a big no. Again, I get that HM is opening a new national museum and is most likely supporting Norwegian art and jewelers but this necklace is a big no just like the necklace from the night before. HM's suit is a conservative, classic look that just doesn't work with the necklace.

Cudos to the 85 year old Queen of Norway for wearing so bold and modern necklaces! She looks great and manages to combines modern with classic perfectly. Yesterday's collar necklace was just stunning!

I don't really know what a "conservative" look is. Queen Sonja's classic modern look goes perfectly well with this adorable, absolutely unique necklace. Same applies for the one worn with her white evening gown. I am happy to see a very attractive old lady to dress and look so well and being a nonconformist with good taste. (-Ann.)

    3. At first I agreed withy Ano07:06 about the necklace, but after a while I liked it more and more. It is a beautiful piece of modern art, and imo it is beautiful with this blue colour of the outfit. wouldl like to see a closer photo of it.

@Cathrine: you can watch the artist make and present her jewelry, really fascinating. Somebody gave us her name in the other post from the evening event (thank you!) and this video is on her homepage: https://www.torilbjorg.com/video.html (-Ann.)

The ladies looked terrific except for the 2nd time the Queen wore a rather odd, over the top necklace.

This dress is much more beautiful for CPMM. The design of this dress in a long version would have been so much better than the pink one she wore yesterday. I also like the necklace Queen Sonia is wearing today much better than the one she wore yesterday.

Q Sonja looks very nice, this blue is very nice on her. Some big necklace, I think she like some bold pieces of jewelry. It was so nice to see the CP couple there to, MM looks stunning in that white dress. I am glad she is doing so well health wise.

  6. Q. Sonja looks so chic and stylish, I love this outfit, modern and elegant. Not so sure about the necklace, but she sure is inventive! CPMM looks beautiful in this dress, suits her beautifully

MM looks great. I can think plenty of times she wore this Valentino dress, every time she looked great.

I don’t understand the Queen’s neck piece. What is it? It is not within the realm of necklaces. It’s feels like she looked in the mirror just before stepping out and said “oh, that’s just too much blĂ©, need something to draw the eye beyond the suit”. Except instead of enhancing the overall look, it brought it down a few good notches. Too bad.

  10. Love the Queen's bright blue and the necklace stops it from being too conservative--(sorry, Ann, can't think of ab better word!) Mette Marit's dress is classy but I love the apricot dress worn by the lady on the Queen's right in the first couple of pics.(overall look spoiled by the ghastly shoes).
