I agree! Q. Letitia’s cocktail dress is perfection, and I love her choice of accessories. Both Dr. Biden and Mme Macron look good too. (V.M.)

There you nail it. It is so tacky to hang yourself with enormous pieces of royal jewelry when your hostess or the people your are hostess to simply do not have this kind of bling. Austria springs to mind…..

There are countries where the protocol says that the Queen when she is hostess to a presidential couple never wears a tiara because the first lady doesn't has a tiara herself.

Jill Biden’s white suit is very sharp but shoulders look way too big to me.

Royal ladies should not wear black, except for funerals. Nice siluette, but ditch the silly bows. Greg

Actually the mourning for royals is White, not black, at least in former Catholic ones. Because of that they visit the Pope in White, not black.

In Spain women used to get married in black, It was a "respect" colour, and the Queen mourning was White. You should inform yourself, culture is not universal.

Maybe you hadn't heard. Queen Victoria died quite a while ago. It's a new day for black.

If you are a man named Greg, I can see why the bows would be silly to you. Most men do look silly in bows. Letizia is a lady. They actually work on the dress.

The traditional court dress in Spain in earlier centuries has been black even outside funerals and including members of the royal family.

I am afraid you have not been informed correctly. The queens that are allowed to wear white when visiting the pope must be catholic. The mourning color for royals in the Benelux (I'm not talking about other countries because I'm not sure it is the same everywhere) is black like for everybody else. It was Queen Fabiola (being Spanish herself) of Belgium who tried to change that when King Baudouin died. She was the only one wearing white at his funeral. After that I never saw white again on a royal funeral in the Benelux including Queen Fabiola's own funeral.

@Anon 15:44 You are correct about Catholic queens being the only ones who wear white to visit the Pope. All other queens wear black.

Anon 15:44..you should read about María, Queen of Scotland...and the privilege of White....also Grey and lilac are mourning colours for the Catholic Church too...

Beautiful but I think in altering the neck and shoulders, the armhole doesn't sit nicely like on the model.

I like the black dress of Queen Letizia more now than the first time (last picture). The 1st time the skirt was too wide. Now the skirt is less wide. It is much better like that. The 2 bows are not needed. I also like the white pant suit of Jill Biden and the turquoise dress of Brigitte Macron. At least some happy colors between all the black of the men's suits and the women who wear black too.

And it’s another white trouser suit! Just as well Jill Biden didn’t wear it on the earlier engagement. 😂. Strange choice for a gala dinner. Queen Letizia looks simply stunning

Hanging long bows in black ruined an otherwise lovely dress.

Letizia looks great. Some of the ladies come close. B Macron looks lovely, a bit of color in the mix. Jill Bidens suit does not fit to well.

The Queen looks fabulous, this dress is elegant and fits her figure so well, the bows are the detail that makes this dress more original and, no they don’t look silly, perhaps because they are well placed. Her hair, makeup and posture impeccable as usual. I truly like Mrs. Biden pantsuit, she has an excellent figure and always dresses age appropriate. Mrs. Macron’s dress is also very flattering.
@Greg, there is no rule in the Spanish Royal House that states that black is only appropriate on funerals, that may be the case in different countries, but not in Spain.

Queen Letizia looks stunning! Dr. Biden's pantsuit is very fashionable and looks wonderful on her. Mme Macron's blue dress is very pretty and the color is very pretty on her.
