It looks like the women have to stay a few steps behind the men. I can understand it when it is a ritual but even when they entered at the reception she is behind him. On earlier occasions I didn't noticed that.
The fashion style in general : the usual boring outfits.
The skirt of princess Kiko's suit when she enters the hotel where the reception took place, was not an example of good tailoring like we are used to see in Japan.

Well, if women could inherit the throne they - Akishino and Kiko - wouldn't even be going through this ceremony because the current emperor's daughter would be next in line. Everybody would be walking behind her. So it is what it is.

  5. Sorry, but I can't work out who is who (hidden behind masks) most of the photos are not close enough to see details of their gowns.
So I'll put the kettle on and relax with a good cuppa.

  6. From what can be seen with photos at a distance, the Royal ladies, look well groomed, and subtly dressed. The pearl necklace and earrings look lovely, so elegant in the last photo.
