The Kingdom of Bhutan celebrated Bhutan’s 114th National Day

The Kingdom of Bhutan celebrated the 114th National Day on 17 December, in commemoration of the day in 1907 when Gongsar Wangchuk was crowned as the first king over a united Bhutan. The ceremonies took place in the capital, Thimphu. King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, Queen Jetsun Pema and their two children Crown Prince Jigme Namgyel and Prince Ugyen, and other members of the Royal Family were at Tashichhodzong.

  3. Oh my! What a feast for the eyes! I don't think I've ever seen so many gorgeous ladies at one time. Their gowns, jewels, and stoles (scarves?) are absolutely stunning. Queen Jetsun Pema is the epitome of beauty. The men look very festive too, and the little princes are adorable.

  5. So beautiful! The people, the kiras, the colors - just wow. I notice there is only one faraway photo of the king - I hope he is in good health. It's not all that cold in Bhutan. Beautiful photos. ~Laurel~
