On November 12, 2021, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex visited a military base in New Jersey on the occasion of Veterans Day. The Duke and Duchess travelled from New York to Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst in New Jersey and met with service members from all six branches of the military. There, the Duke and Duchess attended a luncheon with service members and their spouses.

Last year, on Veterans Day, the Duke and Duchess had visited the Los Angeles National Cemetery and laid flowers on the military graves. The Duchess of Sussex wore a black faux-wrap dress by Giorgio Armani, and black suede pumps by the same brand.

  2. We should talk about dresses, but ... Seriously, how can you show photos of this couple who is so manipulative? Have you read the testimony of a former Sussex press secretary in a London court? SMS messages and e-mails from Mrs. Meghan to Mr. Kanuf were literally quoted and published in English newspapers (I was shocked by reading it). It is testament to their manipulations and lies in public . This is my opinion, on which and I gave reasons. Do you have a different opinion?

    2. For the record the former press secretary only released certain parts of the message not all. Meghan release a 21 page rebuttal that the mail did not release only the part that makes her look bad.. And if you dislike her so much stop clicking, reading and commenting on post about her. It's that simple.

Very Sorry for your ingnorant, Remember mr knauf work for Prince William, Who Is also Responsible for their UK exit because of their popularity, believe whatever you like, time Will reveal the Truth, look at Andrew case? there was no Court for that, but Meghan letters to her father Is a big problem in UK , especially in this Moment, Pathetic, the Tabloid make Money thanks to royal members Who paid and give them This infamation to coverup for themseive, Remember, Everyone Will be judge according to how he or She judge others.

    4. @Unknown - the Duchess of Sussex has apologised to the court so that's an admission in itself that Mr Knauf's testimony is correct. The Sussexes downright denied helping with the biography - knowing perfectly well they had.

Prince William is not responsible for the move to the US - two grown adults made that decision for themselves which they were perfectly entitled to do. They can be as popular as they like - they are still not as important in the pecking order. William may well have struggled with the popularity but I think Harry and Meghan also struggled with their position in the hierarchy.

Many of "their truths" have now been shown to untrue, half true or exaggerated. I think it only natural that many people are hesitant about what they say as a result. That's sad because there was a lot of goodwill towards them at the beginning. Im sorry that it was tough and that the behaviour of Thomas Markle caused problems for them in their relationship with Harry's family. I wish them every success in their philanthropic efforts and their new life - but I'll admit to being quite cynical about some the things they do and say given the things that have happened and continue to come out.

The situation with the Duke of York is shameful, embarrassing and taking much too long to be sorted. However, it has nothing to do with the situation with the Sussexes.

As to the rest, I think this blog has every right to publish pictures of the Sussexes as they are still part of the BRF. I also think if that annoys people so much they should just not bother looking. However, it's a free world and if they want to look and comment there's not much to be done.

I also think this event is very nice for prince Harry to attend, with his military background.

    1. I agree, this dress is beautiful and not as "look at me" as the red one. She might have worn a sort of suit thing or jacket to take up the military theme, but this dress is absolutely fine for the occasion.

    2. @Rosalyn. I agree with you. They took Prince Harry's uniform. But they cannot take his thoughts and his feelings. Everybody in Europe and the US knows he was in Afghanistan. Everybody knows what he achieved with the Invictus games. He is more appreciated abroad than in the UK. Perhaps thats why the American Military Staff has no objection that he is meeting service members and that pictures were taken of that meeting.

    3. MJ - very few people in the UK are ignorant of Harry's service or begrudge him his memories and feelings or indeed, are ungrateful for the time served. What he achieved and continues to do with the Invictus games is wonderful. But you're right - the UK doesn't especially appreciate him for the rather less stellar behaviour in recent months.

They took his uniform because he can't be half in, half out - it's hard for him and hurtful but that is how the Queen sees it. Things may change with a new monarch but unlikely - William and family will be more important and Harry and Meghan will have settled into their lives in the US (which appears to be making them happy).

I'm also getting the impression that in the UK they think they are the only country that have a Remembrance day. In other countries it is called Armistice, Wapenstilstand, Veterans day,... etc. They have also ceremonies with their king's or presidents to remember the men and woman who are fallen in war conflicts for our freedom. In other countries there are war memorials too, or grave yards with foreign soldiers who were killed in action. Remember in "Flanders fields" it is in Flanders not in the U.K. , Mardasson Memorial in Bastogne (The battle of the Bulge) in the Ardennes (Belgium), the Last Post and the dropping of the Poppies in Ypres (Belgium)....

  11. This is a PRIME EXAMPLE of how someone will ALWAYS try to make a flaw out of what she wears. Geez. She is wearing a SIMPLE BLACK DRESS which is suitable to the occasion. I saw this thinking I'm sure I will find negative comments or someone will twist it around like she is doing something wrong.

She is criticized for absolutely EVERYTHING she does. And it's a shame really. I totally get why Meghan left and totally see why Harry supported her now.

It's not a wonder you turn a blind eye to Kate and William's lack of work ethic and focus on finding anything you can about this woman.

Kate disappeared for over 2 months in July only to finally return and Jet off again on vacation to the Isles of Scilly. And if that wasnt enough, she turns around and jets off AGAIN to God only knows where a mere 8 wks later. But who cares right? She is getting paid regardless and getting plenty of praise for it all.

Nothing is ever said of attention seeking behavior like wearing a skimpy yellow dress to visit the troops and let it fly up multiple times. Which btw occurs to many times to count. Even at Eugenies wedding...

William works a 4th of what his 70 year old aunt does. Yet, he is duty bound???

He does this huge global environment campaign preaching to everyone else and then jets off on vacation after vacation. All the while, never mentioning the ancient sewage systems that dump into your river and coastal waters over 400,000 times a year. And that's just the reported amount. All across the country. A drone footage captured one footage of it dumping for 50 plus hours. Disgusting.

Kate cradled her baby bump and she is motherly. Meghan cradled hers and she is narcissistic.

So much vitriol and hypocrisy. I dont blame them one bit.

    9. Actually, the Cambridges did take on more workload. But they still have small kids, so they will be looking after them, too, and make sure they have their parents around as often as possible. And they went on vacation in the UK in summer (as they did last year) and "jetted" off, as you put it, once this year for another short holiday. It is also normal to have some time away from the spotlight in summer, often when they are joining HM The Queen in Scotland for a little while. Should I see something on Duchess Catherine that I don't like, I would comment on it, just as I do with other royals, or her sister-in-law in America. Simple as that.

    10. Wow @mama mama - if that's objectivity for you then I hate to see what you think subjectivity is.

@julianna Meghan didn't leave because a bunch of people were talking about her clothes. I think her grievances were more than that.

And as for "jetting" anywhere - they are all guilty of a high carbon footprint but I'm damn sure Harry and Meghan's is higher than William and Catherine's. Harry and Meghan love themselves some private jets.

William and Catherine have done quite a lot recently - perhaps you should inform yourself a bit more.

Interesting that you call out the hypocrisy of other posters while only focusing on the negatives of the Cambridges.

BTW - just to be clear, I think Meghan looks fine here, I think they have every right to be attending these events and I enjoy seeing reports of the events on this blog. But, given some of the things that have happened recently I can see why some people struggle to believe some of what they say. However, I don't think we need to assume the worst every time they do something and I also don't think there has to be a "competition" created about whether Catherine or Meghan is better.

  14. Golly. The Meghan hate is real. I can't say I really like her either.
But I can say I don't like to see how people are almost demanding Helen not to post about Meghan anymore. What Helen posts is her choice and she puts a lot of work and effort in this blog. Which is, surprise, a fashion blog. Lots of people like to know and read about Meghan, so they still can do that here.
And about royalty: Meghan married a prince. With or without using titles or names, she once was Duchess of Sussex. You can take titles away, but you can't pretend they never existed!
No one grumbles about Tessy from Luxembourg who isn't 'officially' royal. Or Delphine from Belgium.
Sorry. I don't want to start a row, but I hate unfairness. And I also want to say thank you to Helen, for putting up with all the negative and nasty comments. There's nothing wrong with being off-topic, unless it's the same repeat over and over again.
    Thanks.

    1. The way I understand it Meghan is still the Duchess of Sussex, it was just agreed that she wouldn't use her HRH for business ventures. Also as I understood it Delphine of Belgium is officially a Princess, coat of arms and all since 1 October 2020 – though her descendants are not in the line of succession due to the circumstances of her birth. So yes, she is offically royal now. Whereas Tessy de Nassau lost her titles with her divorce in 2019. Personally I enjoy seeing the fashion on all the ladies and Meghan is a really sharp dresser so, I agree that we there doesn't need to be the same off topic talk over and over again... but the thing I wonder about when I see the Harry and Meghan posts though is that I would like to know in which capacity these visits are taking place, if they are part of their charitable work or if they are part of these motivational speaker deals they have made. Who invited them and for what reason. I don't think that's really all that transparent sometimes or maybe that's just me. Yes, here we speculate it has to do with Harry's military service but still, a bit more clarity would be nice in my personal view. -- S.

  15. This is absurd. What are they doing there? They do not have an official role in the US (which would probably mean that there woul dbe some point to them visiting an institution devoted to the defense of said country); they do not have an official role in the UK (and why that would qualify them to visit a base in the US, I don't see at all).
I hope at least they got there on a tandem instead of using an evil fossil-burning means of transport.

  17. I am a little confused with this couple. They are no longer working royals of the British royal family ok I get that. However, the current context of their appearances or tours of the US (whatever you like to call it) is the confusion. Do they still think they can carry out some sort of non official royal role? If this is the idea what happened to privacy? Mary

  18. As for the fashion: it's a nice simple black dress and is appropriate for the occasion. That's all there is to it, honestly.

As much as I support Harry and Meghan, I do wonder why they are there. They aren't handling any official duties anymore. Yeah, they're still royals (technically speaking), but who are they representing? It does seem like the opposite of the privacy they were asking for.

HOWEVER, I will say that some of the recent comments regarding Meghan specifically are so disgusting. Such evil in your hearts, some of you.

I also agree with Juliana and a few others. Double standards for two Duchesses is terribly unfair. And..... it shouldn't matter whether you are on official duty or not, when it comes to recognizing the heroic sacrifices of our military and our retired veterans, and spending time with them. Our veterans have stories to tell. Prince Harry deserved better than to have lost his military titles. Not every royal serves in a war zone , as he did. And as for fashion, I like the simple black dress.

I am not anti-British. On the contrary, otherwise I did not mention Flanders and Ypres and I am very grateful that British soldiers among the other Allies came to the Netherlands, France and Belgium to liberate us from the 2 world wars. It is just the way that certain (British) bloggers talk about H & M if they were criminals just because they have chosen other goals in their lives. They are free to go where they are invited in the States. I'm sure one cannot enter a military base just like that if you are not invited.

None of these highly opinionated people have any first hand knowledge of their antagonist. My grandparents would be horrified to see what has become of the world they fought and suffered so much for so we could have the privileges we enjoy today -- the very same people the BRF was just honoring yesterday for their service. They would all be ashamed of the way society has squandered the legacy they were trusted to protect for generations to come. Imagine if that energy was put toward something positive instead of bullying. ~d

  26. Privacy: the reason they 'left' the royal family, yet they continue to trade off their connections to the Royal family, and act like they are really knowledgeable about issues that are clearly beyond their scope of reality. Reality = Harry is a 'former' not current Royal. Reality, she married into the family without a clue, and stated she was going to 'change their lives'. Reality: they wanted privacy, but have done everything since that statement to keep themselves in the public eye. Public relation firms have been hired to keep them in the public eye. They said they do not want the publicity, so do not give it to them. Ambline
